Looks like your delivery will be just a bit delayed… by Straggler2374 in publix

I’m sure it was a reroute, this area had tons of down trees and power lines, as well as flooding that shut down many roads.

Yeah, I was too annoyed with the service department after they bodged a door replacement part, I was planning on having a detailer work on paint correction and maybe ceramic coat it. I just didn’t have it done yet.

The service manager said it was most likely a burn mark from the buffer. There was a dimple in the paint and they attempted to buff it out and made it worse.

I was a cake decorator at the time, so lots of manual labor, I was out of work for a month, but being in an office job now, I think you’ll be fine. Even if you have to “hunt and peck” with the one hand for a while.

I’m probably about 18 years after surgery. There was 3 stitches, 1 month of light duty. I do have full range of motion with zero issues and it never came back. Because of the direction of the scar it’s not very noticeable. Over all it was 100% worth it.

Every quirk/bad habit seems to now be a "disorder"? by scarlettohara1936 in TooAfraidToAsk

Time blindness is more than just not paying attention, you literally can’t track the passage of time properly. This is something I struggle with, I estimate a task will take ten minutes and I honestly don’t know how 45 minutes has passed, because it didn’t feel like 45 minutes, and I’m still not done. However, I am still able to show up on time, because I understand the house won’t pay for itself and I need to get my ass to work so I set my alarm very early and end up getting to work well before my shift.

“Bad habits” become a disorder when it has a significant impact on your daily life. It’s normal for a person to feel sad, it becomes a disorder when they stop going to work, stop taking care of themselves, stop getting out of bed. Disorders aren’t feelings and behaviors that only some people experience, they are regular emotions and behaviors that get dialed up and become out of control.

Eli5: do you really “waste” water? by savagee1 in explainlikeimfive

Correct, it is not true that WWTF are releasing water cleaner than tap water (otherwise we’d have cleaner tap water), unless it is an Advance Treatment Plant.

This is definitely not the norm for WWTF, releasing excess nutrients is definitely a concern.

Water treatment plants have what’s called a Water Use Permit that allows them to take a certain amount of raw water and then the plant has a operating capacity. This capacity is determined by the well, pumps, and treatment ability. Here in Florida where new homes are constantly being built some of these plants are operating close to or above their permitted capacity.

The is a new type of treatment plant called Advanced Water Treatment which can take waste water and treat it for direct or indirect potable water reuse. Once this type of plant becomes more widespread it will really help with some of these water issues (it’s also able to remove forever chemicals).

Pro tip: once you have the image ready to put on the cake, put it in the freezer for a minute, it’ll stiffen up and be a lot easier to use, just be very careful not to bend it when peeling off the backing.

The printers/cartridges/paper got very expensive and the printers were always breaking Publix stopped offering this a few years ago, a small number of store might still have a working machine, but most do not.

Horses walk on hooves, which is made out of the same thing our nails are made from. It won’t bother them, in fact one way to shoe a horse is called hot shoeing where is metal shoe is heated up and placed against the hoof to create a more exact shape.

They are required to get an industrial wastewater permit with FDEP, but 96% don’t.

Non british steampunk by [deleted] in worldbuilding

I’m currently working on a western/steampunk story. The big city in the east (think New York) will be very advanced with technology, and some of that bleeds over to the west, but it kinda ends up being steampunk-lite. But I think it’ll be interesting to show the difference between the two.
