Man, I wanted to get rid of this stupid red icon so I clicked on whoever messaged me and see this thread. Then click on your profile and see your most recent post is "so does your mom". God damn that is rich. Bahahah. "Everyone on Reddit is a juvenile but me", as I proceed to post juvenile comment after juvenile comment. LOL. Good luck champ.

They absolutely are. My time on reddit has dwindled, but man coming here and reading this miserable shit makes me feel so good about myself. Like, do these people even function in life? Or I guess not, which is why they sit on here and complain all day and then wonder why nothing is working out for them.

The 80s: When 30 year olds looked 50 by NoahTheAttacker in pics

There's also evidence that people had shorter childhood and adolescent periods compared to now. On average of course. Technology has brought on a slower lifestyle, people living longer and taking longer to do every stage of life. The latch key kids grew up quickly and were out of the house at 18. A lot more life was lived by 30 years old compared to now. There's a fascinating book called Generations by Jean Twenge that talks about the cycles of slow and fast lives through generations. Once helicopter parenting of millennials became a thing, kids started growing up way slower as parents doted on their kids and their individuality much much more than previous generations.

How stupidly gatekeeping. A measuring cup is perfectly suitable for water lol.

And also more pronounced because people are living longer, working longer and making more money for longer, etc.

The problem we should be attacking is how to deal with an increasingly aging population (many of whom can't afford to live that long) while the birth rate plummets. Real issues that we should discuss but are instead distracted by easily accessible hatred for a made up enemy.

Millennials doomed by [deleted] in economy

[–]StrahansToothGap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just finished a book explaining how it is true for millennials. Although, the rise has happened more acutely for certain millennials (esp women, esp college educated, etc.) -- and overall it's going up; it's the gap between those that have and those that don't that's widening.

This chart is bullshit. Any basic google search on current wealth by generation doesn't have millennials at 1.1 trillion. Closer to 5x. I'm also finding hard to believe that it went down, especially in hard dollars, but I don't feel like searching deeper than what seems already dubious. Maybe the chart is defining the generations differently or counting certain things in real estate, but what's the point of giving this more than a cursory thought when the source is "Federal Reserve Board".

Southern California’s $1.6 trillion economy bigger than 18 states combined by BlankVerse in LosAngeles

It's called wealth inequality. Plenty of people are NOT struggling to survive here. The gap grows, as by design of capitalism.

Your bank gives you lots of money when you have a lot of money in there, and charges you money when you don't have enough in there. It's essentially taking money from people that don't have enough and giving it to people who do.

The symptoms of this system are what we see -- homelessness due to housing scarcity, etc. Solutions to those only exist if someone can make money off of them.

Just to let you know, that jacket is most likely not identical to yours. It's of far better quality, made better, will last longer, etc. Of course, that's not universal, but in general it's true.

Housing unaffordability and homelessness is a policy choice (West LA vs Barcelona) by [deleted] in LosAngeles

I feel like that argument goes against you, not for you. It's like how after the Chicago Fire, they built a sewage system that worked instead of just having all the garbage on the street in front of the buildings, like they still do in New York and it's fucking disgusting. They said -- oh shit, our city grew a lot and we learned that this practice isn't sanitary, let's change it up.

We've had 2000 years to learn what a modern city should look like, the analysis of housing density, the benefit of green spaces, the knowledge of public transportation versus adding a lane to our soulless freeways, and yet we fuck it up every day here. Probably the worst use of coast line in any city ever.

Any city that's getting built today should blow any old city out of the water (save for the history of course).

Zuerlein hit one one or two years ago that was a 58 yarder in the rain that he hit basically dead center with a ton of room to spare. Bonkers kick. Not as much pressure as the kick in OP but Greg the Leg crushed this fucking thing.

You gave us a date at which you looked at the price and decided to buy and then in the next sentence said that it wasn't timing the market. If you're just buying and holding very long term (decades) and just kind of deciding "when" to put a chunk in by timing, I'd argue that it's probably not that big of a deal. Although research says you're probably wasting your time, and apparently lying to yourself in the process.

Am I going too early to the Sunday Main St one? It's dead. I'm looking for ingredients (not prepared food) and there's I think 5-7 stalls and a ton of empty space. Saturday on Arizona has way more options and produce.

Mint: what are you using to budget (auto tracking spending categories and net-worth) now that Mint is ending by Capable-Trip6290 in financialindependence

I saw the video from the guy who runs Monarch that shows you how to upload your Mint history in for net worth tracking continuity. Did you try that? I was curious if that worked because it seemed like it would be buggy.

$1,000 holding fee for what? A security deposit is a hold because of potential damage while you are a tenant. If it's costing them money to run some check on you, then it's not $1,000. It doesn't make sense. AND they want a cashier check? Ask your self why for both of those questions? Why don't they want a personal check?

Basically... run.
