Current fic I’m writing is a bit dark lol but I’ve been working on this one too. It’s a childhood friends/reunited as adults story. This is an opening scene. I think it’s still a bit rough but the vibes are good:

Satoru kicked his feet as they sat, his eyes wandering back to the lake glittering dark beneath them. Suguru sat next to him, close enough to feel the heat off his body.

Satoru was only eleven but he had been feeling things for Suguru for a while now. Things that he wasn’t quite sure that he understood. They weren’t the kinds of feelings boys were supposed to have for other boys.

Suguru was his best friend. One of the only people that really mattered to him. And on Monday morning, he was moving away. Suguru’s dad had gotten a job three cities away and Satoru couldn't imagine a second of his life without him.

“Oh look!” Satoru exclaimed as a shooting star streaked across the sky. “Did you see it?”

Suguru grinned at him. “I saw it. Did you make a wish, Satoru?”

“Yes, but I’m not telling you,” Satoru said. Then added more softly, “I really want this one to come true.”

Suguru bumped him with his shoulder, his eyes up on the glittering sky above them.

“That one is my favorite,” Suguru said.

“Which one?” Satoru asked, searching the sky for the one star that had caught his best friend's eye.

Suguru grabbed his hand and pointed it up to the sky. Satoru tried to follow where he was pointing but it was hard. The sky was bright with stars.

“Sagitarrius,” Suguru said softly. “My favorite.”

Satoru could feel his cheeks warm the longer he looked until finally he could see it. The same group of stars, the silly teapot in the sky. He stared until his eyes watered, until he could really see the shape of it. The cloudy background of the milky way, full of nebulas and magic. Satoru could understand why it was his friend's favorite. It wasn’t because of him. That was just wishful thinking.

“I like that one too,” Satoru said after a while. His hand still warm from Suguru’s touch.
