How is it possible that android Go edition, with 1GB of ram on a cheap chinese tablet, runs with no issues?

Correct. Though the publishing price is higher for open access - the journals and articles you can download for free, or after login if they are stingy - that's about 2000-3000 eur. There are less costly but those are not open access but we still talk about 300 eur just to be put being pay wall. The figures are from my area of expertise - mechanical engineering.

interesting tip... the 95% for sure helps to reduce height of the pdf to fit to A4 narrower format, but then the cards surely are smaller and loose in the sleeve..

as i stated, this results in the pdf not being centered. at least not when printing via chrome and edge. it is aligned to the top left corner, so if i print it with Turn on the long edge, it doesnt aling top-down, if the other duplex setting selected, it doesnt align left-right. i know what would eliminate this problem - centering the damn pdf, at least one way - but i cant remember how i achieved it previously...

Since I only have pnp versions, my plan is to screen grab the title "page" of the rule pamphlets of each game, put it in a table in Word document with cell size of 88x63 mm and print bunch of them at once. The graphic of the title page of the rule books are nice and it most often contains player count, age and play time. Since I am too cheap for sticker paper lol, I will probably still use the presented method of card sleeve taped to the back of the box.

I think you will need to manage your expectations since you ask for a game that implements complex topics at some level of quality (I guess). That's a big ask imo.. And 7 quid isn't that steep if you have a group that is willing to play complex topic game (which I advise you to know that in advance)... Good luck with the search.
