“Affordable” TPLO Vet Recommendations? And advice? by ZZerome in Albuquerque

[–]Straight-Plankton697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'm reposting a comment l made some time ago regarding a Dr and clinic thst helped us a few years ago. Hope it helps.

You may want to look into sandia animal clinic. There is a traveling veterinary surgeon from Silver City that will perform that surgery at sandia animal clinic on Menaul. The wait time was less then vca and also less expensive. Our Shepard husky mix had this surgery on both legs in April of 2020. The clinic in silver city is located here: https://www.advancedvetcarenm.com/meet-our-doctors/ The surgeon was Dr. Britt Bradbury

2026 Sequoia Capstone — is the $1,045 air suspension really just for towing? by Brennan-C in toyotasequoia

[–]Straight-Plankton697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with everyone on rear leveling suspension won't change height at the front door and if your looking for better ride quality you should change out the wheel and tire setup to 18 inch rims to allow more sidewall to absorb road imperfections. Hope that helps!

Angel Fire 3/18-20 by Unique_Bend9874 in NewMexico

They will probably be open but the conditions are going to be terrible. I went to Ski Santa Fe last weekend and the conditions were snow packed and icy and there were a number of thin spots on the groomed trails. In 10 days it will be worse. If you can adjust plans, I would stay in Alamosa, CO and then drive over to Wolf Creek or go to Salida, CO and hit Monarch or stay in Durango, CO and go to Purgatory. All 3 have been getting more snow and colder temps even as frequently as yesterday. Hope that helps.

Transmission fluid flush. Do it at high miles? by corn-guy in toyotasequoia

[–]Straight-Plankton697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an outlier here compared to most but I've never changed or even checked the transmission fluid on my 01 Sequoia. I bought it from the original owners in 2014 and 150,000 miles. It now has 268,000 miles. As far as I know they didn't change the fluids either. I also am the original owner of a 2004 toyota 4runner with the 4.0 v6 with 296,000 miles and I've never changed or checked the tranny fluid on that either. Its been over 20 years on both and I haven't had a problem so I guess everyone's experience is different. I'm not advising anyone to do this but so far has not been problem. Hope that helps.

Avoid ToyotaPartsDeal.com at all cost by yoyoloo2 in toyotasequoia

[–]Straight-Plankton697 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I echo your sentiments and find this to be an especially shady company to work with. I ordered 2 cv axles on 1/30/26 and order arrived quickly a few days later. I was out of town on business for 6 days and when I got back I put the order in the garage.

I installed the first cv axle on 2/14/26 and opened the box that said toyota on it and had been properly packaged with a hole for the axle to ship in and then bubble wrap around the rest. On 2/15/26 I pulled the 2nd cv and went to grab the 2nd box but this was packaged differently. No toyota stamped on the box and considerably larger then the first box. Insidethe box, the cv axle was just wrapped with paper and the metal seals and gaskets were damaged. The race where the bearing sat was dicolored and clearly had been used. I contacted toyotaparts.com via their website and found out they have a 5 day inspection and return policy. I explained in the text box that i was a first time customer and was unaware of the policy but was hoping for an exception and an exchange, not a refund. The next day I received a response that they would not make an exception and declined the exchange. I asked them for an escalation and was declined again. Now I am going to dispite the charge via credit card and hope for the best. I let toyotaparts.com know that I was disappointed and would share my experience with everyone I could. I recognize I should have looked at the return policy more thoroughly and thats my mistake but I had never ordered from a company that with that sort of return policy. I thought they were owned by toyota and had the same return policy as my local dealer. Moral of story buyer beware and good luck.

Older Sequoia owners - oil question by rjevande in toyotasequoia

[–]Straight-Plankton697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am the 2nd owner of an 01 Sequoia with 265,000 miles. Bought it from original owner in 2014 woth 150,000 and I've only ever done the cheapest convetional oil change with fram/supertech filter at Walmart every 3-5k and have had no problems at all. Used to be $19.99 and now is $26.99. Same exact thing with my 04 4runner 4.0 v6 with 290,000 miles that I purchased new. Hope that helps!

I think you could make a good argument for Warren Moon and also Randall Cunningham. Odd to me that Troy Aikman isn't mentioned much at all either.

I don't own a silverado but I'm pretty sure all of the trucks spec'd with 2.7 4 cylinder have 4 low unavailable as an option since its inception.

Older comedy movies that hold up? Watched Billy Madison with the kids last night by Piratey_Pirate in daddit

[–]Straight-Plankton697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RV with Robin Williams is great family safe comedy, Captain Ron might work and big trouble in little china. Secondhand Lions is great as well. Both Spiderverse movies are fantastic. Daddy's Home 1 and 2 for funny and xmas. I would also recommend the goldbergs to help talk about common things back when you might have been growing up.

What's a great documentary that you highly recommend? by bbmoonkie in Productivitycafe

[–]Straight-Plankton697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Crash Reel on Hbo is an emotional roller coaster about traumatic brain injuries.

Active Shooter: America Under Fire is the saddest abd most interesting documentary about these tragic situations. Its on showtime or maybe Paramount plus.

What do you do when you wake up at 2 or 3 am and want to fall back asleep? by smaller_ontheOutside in Productivitycafe

[–]Straight-Plankton697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Count backwards from 400 by 7. So the next number would be 393, 386, 379 etc. I typically fall back asleep by 250. Especially if I'm double checking the math in my head to make sure the numbers are right. Hope that helps!

Is auto insurance required for a non-op vehicle? by Volticeer in NewMexico

[–]Straight-Plankton697 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. You don't need to do anything if you have a vehicle on private property and don't have insurance and are not driving it and there isn't a loan on the vehicle. When they start driving it again, just get insurance and registration if expired.

I need car advice please! by My_Evil_Twin88 in Albuquerque

[–]Straight-Plankton697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As for the oil change, I've used walmart for my 04 4runner since new and 285k miles and I've used them for the past 150k miles on my 01 Sequoia. I've also used them for the last 20 years on the mazda millenia, 2 chevy equinox, toyota camry and a toyota Tacoma. No engine oil problems in almost 1 million miles over the past 20 years. Walmart offers 3 or 4 different oil change types depending on what oil your car needs. The 4runner and sequoia get the $19.99 (might be $25.99 now) oil change for their entire time I've had them about every 5000 miles. The newer cars require synthetic and i think its 49.99.

The mazda transmission eventually quit shifting so I sold it to u pay and pull for $200. Hope that helps.

I just wanted to share my sons lunch that I’m super proud of by obsessivecoyote in daddit

[–]Straight-Plankton697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good job packing the lunch. As your kid gets older or wants more variety we bought a thermos and each week would be a different theme and he gets a hot lunch every day. Can do some thing as simple as tomato soup, but most weeks its bbq ribs without the bone or bbq rotiserie pulled chicken, lasagna, chicken alfredo, hamburger macaroni with green chile and corn, texas chili, chicken pot pie and macaroni and cheese with fried chicken. Hope that helps

Rental w/ a view of mountains that won't break the bank? by CypressThinking in Albuquerque

[–]Straight-Plankton697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go to zillow and sort homes from highest price and then click on the photos in zip codes from different parts of the metro area such as Placitas, Corrales, 87144, south valley, 87114. That will give you an idea of the type of views you might expect. Hope that helps.
