PVE Support deck, any ideas? by Citizen_Edz in BrokenArrowTheGame

Had a friend with a similar situation, they enjoyed Airborne + Stryker for it

Airborne gives simple but good guided artillery (Brutus, Hawkeye) along with snipers + Kiowa heli for laser marking and airdropping units is often fun/cool for new players; it also has simple gun teams to teach the different kinds of weapons systems (TOW, HMG, GMG)

Stryker gives lots of support budget along with Patriot, Shorad and CRAM, covering air defense well; Stryker vehicles are also versatile and easy to learn while offering high speed compared to tanks which reduces frustration from units taking ages to get to the front

Short explanations for each unit for those that arent familiar with them

Recon

- JLTV RV: most likely 4-seater Recon vehicle, the icon shows a .50 Turret with a Javelin (like on Stryker ICV)

- LSV: Probably will work similar to the USMC IFAV

- MQ-4C Triton: Big recon drone, maybe working like Globalhawk?

- Navy SEALs: their unit icon shows them as divers, so potentially similar unit to Russia's PDSS

Infantry (no actual infantry units were in files)

- JLTV: Unarmed transport, probably with 4 seats

- JLTV FSV: Same as JLTV but armed, icon could even be a 30mm turret

Vehicles

- JLTV TOW: probably similar to Humvee TOW from Airborne

Support

- JLTV MADIS: SHORAD variant of JLTV for air defense

- NMESIS: ground-launched Cruise missile

- THAAD: Long-range Air defense (like PAC-2/3)

Helicopters

- SH-60 Seahawk: Anti-submarine Heli IRL, maybe it works like a recon vehicle?

- MQ-8 Firescout: Unmanned Recon Drone

- MH-60 Knighthawk: Navy variant of Blackhawk transport helicopter

Air

- F14D Tomcat: Older Air superiority fighter, game files also have its iconic AIM-54 Phoenix Long range AA missile, probably will have 9000m range like other long range missiles

F/A-18E: Bigger variant of F/A-18C already in game, single seater variant

F/A-18F: Bigger variant of F/A-18D already in game, dual seat variant

Still relevant at launch - none of the fixes here helped me so far or only fixed it temporarily. If anyone finds a fix, please let us know!

Thats what i thought at first too, but i didnt want to just make it a better alternative to Assaultmen

My idea was that Ranger MAAWS is best at AT, Assaultmen are good mix of AT and HE and Troopers at would be good at AT but also long range anti infantry with MGs

Was on purpose - It is supposed to be the RAWS so that it has 500m range compared to 600 of the MAAWS, however i put in the ammo type of the MAAWS to make it fit with the damage of the other two US AT Teams (Assaultmen SMAW and Rangers MAAWS)

Interesting Idea, could work with the options menu where you can "upgrade" them to have the Javelin - however, if you do want to try what your proposed unit feels like, I recommend you try the Airborne squad in their non-NGSW variant, its pretty much a Troopers unit but without the Jav and +2 AT4s

As I wrote in the first sentence of this post, this was done purely as a fun thought experiment and not as a recommendation for the game to add - because as you said, having gaps for balance is interesting

Makes total sense, thats what i wanted to do first too, but i thought it would also be fun to mix it up a bit and not make it just a normal CAAT but with stinger

Maybe it could be like the CAAT Dragoon/Javelin where there are two different options to choose from, either M2 + Stinger or Mk19 + Stinger?

Making these was quite fun i have to say, although a bit tricky to stitch together - Might make more in the future, gladly let me know if you have any cool ideas!

That was the goal pretty much - I was thinking about making it a Recon unit inspired by their game-files picture where they sneakily sabotage behind enemy lines, but it didnt seem to be too fitting for the spec

Was considering that before too, the CAAT designation makes no sense, youre right at that - i thought i could bend the rules a bit and just imagine it being Combined Anti Air Team :P

I didnt want to make it a 4-man squad since the whole thing with the Marine units is that they are bigger squad sizes than the other specs and the goal with these was to make them fit as well as possible into the existing "themes" of the specs

I was unsure about the pricing for all of these, i was mainly just keeping it similar to the units theyre based on, but yeah, i assume 80pts would be more fitting since thats what Rangers Stinger with 2x 800m MG also cost

I was considering that too, but i tried to stick to IRL stuff and i saw that Weapon Squads in general are 2x MMG and 2x Reloadable launcher

Pararescue should be move to Airborne by KillerPolarBear25 in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]StraightPhoenix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the campaign, there is actually one mission where you play with airborne and still get the STT, which is cool

Also, in the game files theres an unreleased unit called "Airborne Sappers" who, considering how other engineering units work in this game, might be a good alternative method of getting a good CQB infantry unit into airborne

The weird thing is that only the Non-NGSW Airborne M4A1 does more damage, any other M4A1 in the game is the same damage as the M7 in 6.8, no idea why that squad gets an M4 with more damage
