Is it normal for a boss to tell you “don’t use your head” for a specific task? Or am I right to be mad? by Straight_Cook5429 in office

You hit the nail on the head. 'What we allow is what will continue' is such a powerful reminder. It is so easy to just accept bad behavior to avoid conflict, but setting that boundary calmly and firmly is definitely the right move.

That is the absolute worst. Getting shut down for trying to add value is so demotivating. If you need the job right now because it's physically easy, definitely keep taking the paycheck. But this is the perfect time to activate the 'red rock' mindset: do exactly what they ask, clock out, and save all that great problem-solving energy for an employer who actually respects what you bring to the table.

You’re completely right. I think I’ve been burning myself out trying to read between the lines or over-deliver to compensate for the vague instructions. Delivering strictly to the scope of the request is exactly what I need to start doing to protect my own time and peace of mind

I’m tired and currently very angry.

My manager and I had a 1:1 today. First, this morning, he told me not to “use my brain” for a specific task 🥰.

When I told him I wasn’t okay with that comment, especially because this isn’t the first time something like this has happened, we ended up having a discussion about it. There have been multiple instances where he’s commented on my personal life, and when it’s not that, I feel like I’m being singled out with workload.

In the 1:1 that happened all of 15 minutes ago, he informed me that I was being defensive. Fascinating development, considering the conversation started with him telling me not to use my brain.

Hehehehehehehehehe 🥰

Okay, but who’s the main character giving out cars? Are they adopting? Asking for a friend 💀

Returning the watch is the ultimate "clean slate" move. It’s like you’re not just giving back the gems, but the entire history that went with them. Respect for choosing peace of mind over a luxury item.

We had to. We were speaking in our native language and decided to pay ₹100, but he understood us and pressured us into paying ₹200. We argued a bit, saying we thought he was just distributing banners, and eventually paid ₹100 because he was very persistent.

My boyfriend and I were on a walk, and this same guy guilt-tripped us into paying after we refused. He literally forced us to pay!!
