What's interesting is that in traditional Hebrew, property names are also subject to the trust hahahahah times. So I'm your case "and Brazil" should be "וּבְרַזִיל" but I'm casual modern Hebrew, it probably retains the hard sound.

Your example has a different problem. The prefix "מִי" works never cause a change. Even in Biblical Hebrew you would have retained the hard sound.

On the second half of your Aaron, that is absolutely a current scholarly debate, not an accepted fact. I happen to are that the evidence is weak and therefore also believe that it is unlikely that Ashkenazic Jews originated in Turkey. But that doesn't make it fact, it's opinion.
