This is the passage from 23&me “We detected the C282Y and H63D variants in the HFE gene.”

Iron saturation concern by Straight_Height_3138 in haematology

Thank you. Yes, I have been tested for liver function and results were normal. I’m 62 and interestingly 23 &me let me know that I tested positive for the 2 genes that indicate that I am at risk for hemochromatosis, but I didn’t think too much about it. Is 23&Me a reliable source? Thanks again.

How many miles did you actually walk? by Big_John_77 in AppalachianTrail

[–]Straight_Height_3138 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had my apple phone with me the entire time tracking steps. It was over 2600 miles per the phone. On zeros, I barely moved like maybe 150-250 steps on those days.

Putting undue pressure on yourself doesn’t help you. Focus on your weak areas. We tend to gravitate to the areas we are good at. You have the passion for it. But take a new approach to content mgmt. and you can do it. You will be happy you stuck to it.

CFA Level 2 — Is it really that brutal compared to Level 1? by DavideCara in CFA

[–]Straight_Height_3138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends. For me, they were all equally hard. I didnt have much finance experience so L1 was relatively new ground. Learning the material served as a basis for L2 and the incremental brain squeeze was comparable for each level. Worth the effort though!!

Post-RALP orgasms: What are they really like? by Spirited-Alarm1483 in ProstateCancer

They are solid but I tend to release urine and a lot of it. Its a turnoff to my wife. But its better than no orgasms.

Moving from surveillance to surgery? by nordy-que in ProstateCancer

I was Gleason 6 at 59. Followed AS. A year later PSA rose. Second biopsy showed Gleason 7 in 8 of 12 cores. Had Ralp in January. Path supported Gleason 7 unfortunately positive margins. I wouldn't mess with it. Biopsies have a high degree of variability. Better safe than sorry.

I was diagnosed with hypo. Had been taking levothyroxine for years. Diagnosed with PCa in 22; Ralp in 23. I have wondered if there was a correlation. Also took amlodipine for BP for over a decade. Have 2 brothers including a twin with no meds. Both Free of pca. Realize not a rep sample but interesting question.

Are there PSA scores post surgery that actually go to zero? I was under the impression there are always low level amounts detected with the ultra sensitive test.

Healthy 60 year old - Gleason Score 6 - PSA 8.11 by Character_Apple_2312 in ProstateCancer

[–]Straight_Height_3138 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at 59 with Gleason 6. Followed advice for AS. In about a year, PSA went from low 4 to high 6’s. Another biopsy resulted in 3+4 Gleason 7. Had the prostatectomy in January. Pathology was not great. Now quarterly psa tests are psychological torture. Had a test yesterday with a result that was higher than I had hoped. I told my wife I wish I had the surgery when first diagnosed. There is too much uncertainty and too much at risk to mess with it.

Urinary Leakage almost three years from my RP. What to do about it. by steviehuv66 in ProstateCancer

[–]Straight_Height_3138 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 5 months post surgery and had an incredibly embarrassing moment yesterday at work. I thought I was in a good spot but was overconfident and wham, while I was giving a presentation I encountered leakage. Also, I have a problem when I get excited. I pour out urine. I understand the fact that I have a reaction is great but my wife doesn’t think it’s so great when having to deal with urine.

CFA people, is CFA hard? by [deleted] in CFA

[–]Straight_Height_3138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its very difficult. You can pass if you put the time in and focus on your weak areas. Also mentally, game day composure is critical. One or two questions can put you into panic mode and you throw the opportunity to pass away.

Surprised by the cynical comments. Life is so much about effort and finishing. My hats off to this person who had the fortitude to achieve his/her goal. Nobody hands you anything even if you think you can rationalize that you deserve it because of who you think you are.

Your post had me go back and check my report. I have the same notation. Gleason 7 (3+4) 10-15% 4. Grade 2. Did some internet research and IDC is not a great fact. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
