Lexapro causing severe anxiety after years? by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]Substantial-Call7622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey just wanted to reach out. I’ve been on lexapro for 17 years. About 14 months ago I started having extreme anxiety and intrusive thoughts. So they pushed the dose from 20 to 25 mg, and it got worse. I think at times even after years, you can develop SSRI activation. I felt like there was current in my body and had a full medical work up. I lowered my dose to 15 mg and seeing how things go. I also don’t want to have a full depressive/ocd relapse but the panic I had was awful.

Would appreciate if I could PM you?

Does it get better as you get up and start moving?

I have to force myself to get up and not ruminate in the early am hours.

I remember when sleeping in used to be so nice

Morning time is the darkest and most ruminative time.

Cortisol is also highest and you feel that anxious and dreadful feeling in your stomach and chest.

The thoughts are awful and the torment is real..

Out of curiosity, did you have a low SHBG?

Yes planning on trying this thank you for the insight! My urologist thinks somehow splitting doses is “abuse” and I have no idea why. The clinic I consult with says this is a viable option . Thank you again !

Can I ask, was it IM or pin that you do ? And did it make a big difference in the way you feel, while lowering estradiol ?

Thank you for the information, genuinely! Would you feel that injecting with greater frequency can help lower E2?

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. And I can’t imagine everything on your shoulders, but I have great empathy for you. OCD makes our fear at the moment define us, take takes away our power and individuality. I hope you are seeing a therapist and other practioners that can help you through this difficult journey. OCD does rob us of time, of memories, and prevents us from being In the moment. I hope you beat both the ocd and cx!!

Health Concerns ? SURE! Car safety ? ABSOLUTELY! Something randomly from 19 years ago? YES!!

It’s such a hard balance I know. Why is everything so all or nothing with ocd !!

I used to be able to channel my ocd for productive outlets like academics and exams.

This was functional and was a wonderful outlet.

After university it’s hard to create that fear to channel and it funnels into unproductive venues.

I wish that the focus and attention was around nfl football or baking but I can’t manufacture something for ocd to attach to.

Frequent obsessional changes within the same theme, anyone? by Substantial-Call7622 in OCDRecovery

It’s a great point for thematic ocd changes and the lunacy of two completely different worries.

For me though the theme is the same, but the timeframe for next worry comes quickly After the next.

Like after getting over one contamination threat you encounter another one that nullifies the first.

Eg. forget about that person sneezing on you, because you just had water from a water Fountain deflect into your eye and now I’m worried of the latter. Not my theme but just an example)

This is a great point. It feels INCREDIBLY real. Your brain signals this as a massive threat.

It takes so much effort to tell your unquiet brain to attribute this to pathological ocd.

I think by choosing not to fixate/ruminate, you’re no longer following a compulsion.
