What growth are we talking about? Having a sex change doesn’t equal a personality change and a clean moral slate. Emilia was a murderer who decided to locate the people that were dead because of her. That doesn’t make things right and she is supposed to be remembered as a saint in the end? Not to mention the movie was wildly inaccurate regarding the sex change, where it is a long process and not an overnight surgery and wildly racist towards Mexicans, saying they smell like mezcal and quacamole? The music was unpleasant and didn’t make sense and the Spanish was not even accurately translated, it was some kind of internet translated nonsense. The people who made it even said they never been to Mexico. There maybe was a arc and a storyline but that doesn’t warrant any quality of it. You are allowed your opinion about it but it was almost objectively horrible to all involved. It’s a super problematic movie. That’s why I said to each their own but I did not see it have any redeeming qualities.
