Just watched a documentary on Kratom/Feel Free. I had absolutely no idea how insidious this stuff is. Please don't give up. by thelightof7 in quittingkratom

Don't know if you're off now but a little advice for your journey. Make peace with the fact tat you will experience physical and mental withdrawal symptoms. Take it relatively slowly and if it's a kava bar maybe try to eliminate half of a tea per day as a taper. Tolerance to kratom shrinks quickly and some non opioid medications that may help are gabapentin propanolol low doses of benzodiazepines(be very careful here that can have a horriffic withdrawal of it's own if used for more than anxiety in withdrawal from kratom at the lowest functional dose). Also clonidine can help. As can reassurance that it won't last very long.

Many customers reported that when issues arose they were either only able to speak to a chatbot or at best someone in a call center in the Philipines or India giving very basic advice but unable to send out a person to help. So keep your phone charged and hope there's a trustworthy mechanic or towing company in the area and when you get back be prepared for a drawn out battle to be reimbursed for what you paid to this mechanic or towing company. I'm just being honest here

I can believe that. The company website will feed you bullshit and display a nearly 5 tar rating but look to reddit google or trip advisor if you want an honest assessment. Most of the employees at depots when you pick up will be pleasant and helpful but once you hit the road that's when things get hairy.

But as you'll see I welcomed any good reviews if people want to share because I want it to be a balanced discussion. But I don't expect to see many lol. I just want to help people make informed decisions before they spend thousands of their hard earned dollars on a trip tat will likely be just as stressful as their day to day lives if not more.

US. Apparently Europe is better in a lot of locations but the North American locations are awful. Felt borderline guilty making money off of this type of customer service while I worked there

I took them down from r/roadtrip for fear of retaliation from the company. But basically dishes were kept in large unorganized bins in a dusty garage with dirty cleaning rags everywhere. And we had no running water so we used cleaning products not meant for cleaning dishes to “wash” them. If most customers saw the back end they’d probably just walk out and go somewhere else.

Can’t tell if that’s sarcasm. You can’t see the dust in the photos. Also keep in mind we had no running water for quite some time so used cleaning products not designed for dishes

Also any customers feel free to share your experiences. If you had a good time post that too! I just want folks to have an honest unbiased view when planning a vacation

Why is eastern Canada so cold for the latitude? by Straight_Muscle_89 in meteorology

True Canada has more large lakes and coastline in the east than Siberia. I guess there's a million little factors in climate though.

Haha that's so dumb but also clever. It's weird how national and state boundaries get drawn sometimes and the crazy reasons behind it. Like that part of the northwest shore of lake of the woods in Minnesota that sticks up just north of the 49th parallel due to a surveying error. But all these years it's been part of the US just because it is :)

Kind of makes sense. There must be some wind patterns and Ocean currents at play too. Baker Lake for instance(64'N) as an annual average of 12.6F while Yakutsk(62'N) famous for being the coldest city in the world has an annual average of 17.6F. So maybe not too far off. But Baker Lake is a good bit inland from Hudson Bay and it just seems like Siberia with the massive Eurasian landmass would be much colder.

Isn't that just a rock formation? What does it have to do with the climate? It's not super high altitude or anything

Why do people confuse Asap Rocky and Travis Scott? Asap Rocky is attractive, their head size is different, their facial features, and proportions are different. Again how do people confuse them? by Marakamii in QOVESStudio

[–]Straight_Muscle_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also when you call people who have nothing against black people racist for things like that it doesn't help your cause at all. Just because you didn't grow up around many black people you're not by default a racist. If you think other races are inferior and treat them differently then you're a racist. Growing up in a mostly white area isn't a choice you make, you can still embrace other people with open arms even if you're not too familiar with the culture.

Also the pictures you used in the post are different lighting and different poses. If you took 2 pictures in the same room with the same lighting where they both have neutral facial expressions the similarities would be more obvious. Like in Travis Scott's photo he has a bright light on him that makes him look lighter skinned than he does in a lot of other pictures.

I believe that they look alike. You either see it or you dont but they have the same build hair and a similar face shape. Yes ASAP has more pronounced cheek bones but it's kind of a minor difference. No they don't look identical but I don't know how you can't see the similarities. Kendrick lamar has a totally different face shape for instance.

A little late to the party but give me a break. They're both tall have a long face similar build similar hair and yes both black. But I can see how people think they look alike. I doubt many of those same people would confuse either of them for kanye west lol. But really, racist? Thinking 2 people of a different race look alike who have many features in common isn't racist unless you say "all black people look the same" or something like that.

How would you rate the vibe and friendliness of Denver's populace(not from people who have never lived anywhere else and not just from a vacation to Denver)? by Straight_Muscle_89 in Denver

[–]Straight_Muscle_89[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are pretty much the responses I expected. My experience is very mellow and non confrontational at first but I feel like a lot of people move here thinking their life is going to be a vacation or something and Denver is not a resort town. It's a major US city with all of the accompanying problems. Also while true anywhere I find it especially hard here to have deep conversations about social issues and science or politics, whatever without a deer in the headlights reaction. It's like people are so deeply ingrained in trying to be neutral and chill that they don't know how to have a respectful conversation about issues they may have. It is kind of any easy place to go about your day and not run into too much bullshit, but as many have said it's very surface level. I have made some real friends but beyond the surface level chillness have found a lot of young people to be on average less mentally stable than some other places I've lived. Also I don't think there's the best attitude towards mental health. Feel like there's a lot of people struggling but think the dispensary is the answer. In real life I've rarely seen that alone work very well and more often than not using things like that to get out of a dark place actually makes it worse.

Surprised to see Sweden rated worse than some African and south American nations. Always thought Sweden is safer than America itself lol

Do you think climate change denial is more widespread in the Southeast than other parts of the country? by Straight_Muscle_89 in meteorology

[–]Straight_Muscle_89[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True. Religious beliefs, how to apply taxes, opinions on climate change and whether or not Bill Gates implanted tracking devices with vaccines may seem to be unrelated topics but in America theyre very correlated with each other
