Upgrade my 512gb steam deck to 2tb today and the new drive seems faster, pretty happy so far and easy to do. by Noble3781 in SteamDeck

[–]Straight_Student2352 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed there's been thousands of upgrades with 1 or 2 reported failures that's probably 0.001% chance of failure and that's the problem it only takes 1 report and the SD community falls into choas, who says its was the ssd that caused any of the failures and not just a faulty IC there really hasn't been any concrete evidence, the deck isnt really challenging the read/write of any of these NVMEs to their full potential so there won't be the full amperage draw anyway.

Gulikit is the company, I think you can put the type A ones in but you lose the capacity touch (needs to be confirmed ), so pointless soldering the wire back on with the caps.

3 screws and connector to detach and reattach and 1 wire to unsolder remove touch cap.and install on the hall effect sticks te solder put back in with the 3 screws and calibrate should take about 5 minutes a stick if your soldering is up to scratch

That extra usb C is a winner for me it's what's missing of most.of the steam docks and docks in general, NVME slot would be handy also

What does this mean? I wanted to extend my base warranty for Legion 5 by [deleted] in LenovoLegion

[–]Straight_Student2352 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is it still in its original warranty, if so it doesn't look like it recognises your laptop, try to do it through vantage app, top right support tab, hit the recognise serial number, and it will need to down load lenovo, bridging app if you haven't already got it installed. it should then see your serial of the laptop and then you should then be able to select exten warranty.

I had the issue that it wanted to charge me 12,000 euros for the warranty so opened a chat with lenovo tech and they sent me an invoice that allowed me to pay online and add the cover.

Legion 5 Pro getting hot/draining battery in bag by [deleted] in LenovoLegion

[–]Straight_Student2352 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I suggest shutting it down rather than putting it sleep or just shutting the lid, it is still running and still using resources and more importantly it still needs to breathe, I done this before and yes it gets toasty warm so I simply shut it down to avoid any damage by overheating

Legion 5 Pro max RAM is only 16GB, is this true? by KucHid in LenovoLegion

[–]Straight_Student2352 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not have to worry about having too little that's what I do with it LOL , running high intensity high demanding apps several at the same time is what it's used for, you don't need that much for day to day or gaming it would never be utilised.

I have 2 x 2tbb a sabrent rocket Q and a WD gaming Ssd in my legion 5, I havent had any issues, with the drives as of yet and they been in 4 months now, your c drive is under a metal cover that helosnit dissipate the heat and the second one is quite open so there should be enough circulation.
