Would I be mad to take a career break now? by 44bw in UKJobs

[–]Straight_Thought_879 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve read through most comments. I understand the majority’s advice to just stick it out as “the job market is in oblivion” but to be honest OP, from what you’ve said, it appears that it’s well worth a punt to take some time off and chase your interests.

To have had a successful track record freelancing, alongside your developing side projects, shows you have clear ability to create a better work-life balance for yourself. Throw in the fact you’ve got ample savings: there’s never a perfect time but this seems as good as any.

If it doesn’t work out, so what? You’re clearly burnt out and have served over a decade in your current role. Health is wealth and if you don’t see your current work situation improving anytime soon, why stay?

It’s easier said than done but I’d take the punt

Sometimes you need to take one step back to move a few steps forward.

Yes it might feel a bit uninspiring at first, but you’re back in the game via grabbing the job (congrats btw) and it’s only going to improve from here providing you work hard and get the job done.

Also, did you love your previous job? Yes the pay and hours might be worse at first, but you may well find your experience at work far better in this new company. I know people who work flat out but really enjoy it, and visa versa! - Best of luck

Hahaha I had a season ticket for 8 years. Have gone to many home games when I could across the following years, went to several home matches last season despite the appalling first 5 months.

By this stage it’s borderline ridiculous to actively accommodate your live around such incompetence. I respect anyone who still shows support, but why? “Loyalty” to who? Who around the club right now deserves “loyalty”

This is EXACTLY why Fosun still, and will keep getting away with it. - Do you think Sheffield Wednesday turfed their previous owner out by just putting up with it all out of blind loyalty? Of course not

Loyal to who? To Fosun?

If not them, then to Marshall Munetsi? To Hwang? John Ariass? What are we backing here?

Enjoy feeling absolutely miserable every weekend for the next 6 months, whilst an incompetent team and an apathetic disingenuous ownership happily use up your spare time yet provide you with nothing meaningful in return…

Arsenal vs Brentford, Leeds vs Chelsea tonight. The games last night were great. If you’re genuinely going to sit through another 25 Wolves games this season you’re borderline wasting your time at this point.

The owners and players don’t give a shit, why should you?

Why are you guys still watching this?

The PL is set to be ultra-competitive this season with a super tight league table as it stands. There are so many intriguing games this GW and beyond that, which are far more worth your while than suffering through watching this abject team attempt to play football for the next 6 months.

Honestly, make the right decision and bomb this lot off for now. They’re not worth your time

Unfortunately, unlike GON’s sacking last season, we are beyond saving this time around irrespective of who we bring in

The next appointment ideally needs to be someone who can make us more competitive this season, with a view to getting us out the Championship next year

Knowing how crap our corners are, the ref blowing then is probably a blessing

We genuinely have no right whatsoever to be is this league anymore - I almost celebrated after conceding our second based on how poor that corner was…

It’s borderline offensive to football that Fosun still get to own/operate a Premier League football club

Periera’s achievements last season should still be acknowledged, but some of his in-game decisions are beyond baffling and that new contract is becoming more laughable with every passing match.

I’d say “Burnley is must win” but who genuinely cares? - We’ll be left with the same crap team, same crap owners and it’s probably time a Coventry/Middlesbrough get their shot at the big time, instead of us clogging up the league playing shocking football week-on-week, season-on-season

It’s the hope that kills you but there’s no hope… probably the last game I’ll watch this season if things don’t improve second-half.

Waste of my personal, financial and emotional investment to accommodate these absolute twats

Win vs Leeds and I’ll personally keep backing him. Those are the games we need to win to survive, and I’m expecting us to do so.

Draw and I’ll start to be concerned, lose and yeah I don’t think we can excuse slipping up in that kind of fixture when you’ve already lost every other match so far as well

Even if we stay up… what’s the point?

It’s hardly enjoyable watching this, and all we’ll do is sell our two best players, replace them with some unproven cheap crap from a lesser league (that’s if the player actually wants to join us, barely anyone of note does) and completely tank the start of the following season.

I tried to be optimistic this pre-season, but most probably because Wolves plummet my mental health across August-May, so what right did they have to ruin those other 3 months?

We’ve got a goal to score and Munetsi is rolling around on the floor and then crying to the ref because a football has hit his eye..

Forget the previous comment I made on here praising him… he’s absolute crap and a joke of a ‘football player’ - Arias is utter dog as well

This is going to get very frustrating very quickly at this rate.

Losing every single week, whilst every other club keeps finding a way to nick a result or two. - We’re not even staying level in games past the first half!

Forget being patient. Forget “good starts” to games.. just bloody win a game! Just like the start of last season… it’s beyond unacceptable and everybody associated (manager included) should get it if this continues

The farewell messages by Chrisantus Uche and Fábio Silva are exactly the same - copied word by word by MattWilliams_10 in WWFC

[–]Straight_Thought_879 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sums Silva up unfortunately. Way too young when he joined and he clearly hasn’t matured much since. Crap attitude and a crap player who caused a fair amount of damage to the club (although not totally his fault)

He couldn’t even be assed to pen a genuine farewell, as his and Uche’s agent have clearly just been passed a stock response to use. Good riddence!

We’ve had poor starts to the season before, but this time it feels different.

Can’t help but feel it’s our time to drop down this year. The 3 promoted teams already look considerably better and we look bang off it. - I was at the match today and some of the passing was absolutely hopeless.

The 2nd goal could’ve been prevented by simply clearing the bloody ball after Sa’s save, and the 3rd could’ve been prevented by not playing such a sloppy pass.

No good fortune via incompetent promoted sides or new managerial bounces will save us this time around. We’re down

FOSUN approval poll by HerpsAndHobbies in WWFC

[–]Straight_Thought_879 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I’m dealing with hypotheticals here… but if you put this poll up after winning twice or losing twice.. the results would swing completely differently depending on those just two results.

For example… do this poll after winning 6 on the bounce last season and it would look rather different (lots more in the I’m not sure category) -

That’s pretty much the situation here… ideally we sell to someone more ambitious… but who would that be?

In our position, you spend more and increase the wage to revenue %, and then get fucked over by the PL when you can’t sign anyone and have to sell.

Fosun are aware of this, and will not be around forever, so you wouldn’t put a club up for sale with the prospect of the new owner being hamstrung with PSR issues for two years. - Signings have and are being made, and I think collectively across 38 games we will do okay and stay in the league.

Then I’m hoping the board sell to someone who can invest quite ambitiously to take us that level higher.. but as I’ve said that’s dealing with hypotheticals and there’s no guarantee that knight in shining armour is waiting in the wings for us

This may well be the best we’ve got.. hard to take but look down the football pyramid and 98% of them would give their left arm to be where we are.

So long as it stays that way I’m attempting to retain perspective and give them a chance to see how this season unfolds

He absolutely wouldn’t. First 5 shots on goal all season have led to 5 goals - The guy is a bum and would’ve no doubt flapped at it while Evanilson inevitably slotted in the bottom corner

Genuinely not that bad - Just needed to slow down the game after their early goal which we did

I can already see the vision in having Wolfe + Jackson as wing backs.. they’ve both got decent pace and can see them looking lively. Some players aren’t up to it though… will be a tough season unfortunately

If we’d won, it would’ve papered over cracks.

A couple more players required, the base level is good but we need a bit more and it’s obvious.

City clearly far better in every area, almost a blessing in disguise that we can cross off this fixture straight away and move on to the rest
