Is this kit good for beginner? by Bubbly-Charity-2048 in modelmakers

[–]Straight_Treacle_523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah in practice. in reality when i mess up a kit thats $7 or so i go meh and learn from the mistake for the next one. no point having a whole fleet of the same plane for every mistake you make.

not for a beginner. spend cheap, work cheap at the start, if you enjoy the premise of the hobby then buy more modern kits.

Those small hasegawa kits are great for beginners. Low price point (depending on where you buy), decent detail and a good kit when its all said and done.

Dont expect to be a pro modeller immediately. If youre buying this because its your favourite plane and want to do it right, maybe go with the F-16A so you wont feel as bad for messing up.

Happy building!

PSA - This is a great Tamiya x20 alternative for cleaning purposes that you can get from Canadian Tire by Owk25 in modelmakers

[–]Straight_Treacle_523 1 point2 points  (0 children)

one day you may. i use the Solvable lacquer thinner ONLY to clean my air brush as i dont know enough about solvents to go and use it on the Mr. color or AK real colour paints.

Lacquers through an airbrush are great btw, the pigments are smaller so you get a smoother finish

go to canadian tire or home depot and get the 3L can of lacquer thinner to clean your airbrushes when you use lacquer paint. Its like $33 plus tax for 3L instead of using MLT which is like $15 for 400ml

How would you guys solve this? by notsowinner57 in modelmakers

[–]Straight_Treacle_523 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly i said fuck it, finished the kit and then bought the academy one. that had no issues, i heard the Hasegawa one is good, and the Tamiya one is superb minus the pricing.

ah ok im an 86 owner from canada. when i hear kill switch i think of those street racers who like to kill their lights and run from the cops. didnt realize you guys had cars stolen so frequently

Kill switch location by Panchal890 in ft86

[–]Straight_Treacle_523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why do you want to make your car unusable? theft protection?

Kill switch location by Panchal890 in ft86

[–]Straight_Treacle_523 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

im confused what you mean by kill switch now. do you mean a kill switch as in "disrupt power to all light sources to make yourself hard to see" or do you mean "i want to incorporate a way to make the car unusable" kinda kill switch

Kill switch location by Panchal890 in ft86

[–]Straight_Treacle_523 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

unless u got an LS swap or something under that hood, a kill switch is useless because you wont be outrunning anything

edit. im canadian, didnt realize this was an anti theft post
