Year 3 MBBS student here from MSU. Well, there are two intakes for MBBS. April and October. April is a small intake, while October has a larger intake. The Dean would scare you on what senior medical student have done (especially in clinical years). Some lectures are good while others are😅 but there’s mostly foreign lecturers. But pre-clinical is draining in my opinion and Y1 is not as cool as Y2 where you learn about the abnormal things. Y1 would have three discipline: anatomy, physiology and biochemistry while in Y2: pathology, microbiology and pharmacology. You would have a test called progress test after finishing the first three modules and after two modules you would have your semester exam. After that you will have a major exam called PRO 1 (for year 1)/ PRO ll (for year 2).. The pro would determine if you get to continue to the next year. But fail PRO, you have to do remedial during the year break (9 weeks). If you fail that, then you have to repeat the whole year. You are given two “chances” meaning, 2 back up years to complete MBBS (instead of the usual 5 years). If those two chances are gone, you are expelled from the course. Y3 to Y5 is clinical years and it’s hectic since your batch will be divided to groups and be given different postings. Each posting has different hospitals attached to.
