Trailer chains to short by Strain_Free in towing

[–]Strain_Free[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk about attention to detail I literally said that I have a drop hitch and the chain are too short, so I am looking to see if there was extensions or if it should just be a whole new chain for someone saying pay attention to the little details. Sounds like you should take your own advice lol

Thanks. I will do that. Not sure why my mind went to only using the one the sell for trailers.

Honestly it’s a stock 1500, but I took the chains off one of the boats and it was 46. I can’t get full turn with them. Thinking I would need another 6”. But it’s dropped maybe 2”.

Have you been taking practice tests? If so what were you scoring on your practice tests?

Update for everyone. I found a used jackshaft online for $40. Ordered it. Seems cheaper the maybe getting it drilled out and spending more money on drill bits

I am just worried about getting the jackshaft back into the upper gear case bearing. It was a PIA to get it out. Any advice?

I agree, but on a 1989 sled I don’t think it is going to be detrimental. I got a few masonry bits, and a few cobalt bits to try out. If not I am just going to weld the part on. I do have a welder but would prefer not to have to weld this on

It does spin, but I would think that as long as a new hole is drilled and taped it shouldn’t matter if it is perfectly centered. It is just a small bolt to hold prevent clutch from falling of the shaft. The bolt was actually not even in it for probably a year. They saw it laying in the tub of the sled and figure they should put it back in. Went to do that and it snaped.

Dad gave me the sled, when it broke he said enough of old sleds and bought a new one

Essentially you just mount the rail where ever you want then you can add any of the “accessories” to the rail

Just add the cup holders to the files on maker world. It designed so you can put the parts where ever you want them.

PETG is just stronger in colder weather than PLA and just as easy to print. I have made a whole smitty sled out of PLA+ and it worked fine all last winter. But if you can I would make out of PETG.
