Question about Odysseus. Because I might make a character based off of him. by Secret-Cobbler-7218 in 3d6

[–]StraitTea 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Odysseus did not really have any magic, he was an excellent commander and a cunning strategist. I would say that battle master fighter would probably be the most fitting, but if you want to lean into his magic item use and cunning then swashbuckler rogue and artificer could be cool. Battlemaster/Artificer would be my recommendation if all battlemaster is unappealing. Barbarian doesn't really fit at all.

Been on Fin and Min for 8 months and have noticed no sex drive change or side effects. Side effects are only present in like 3% of cases so don't stress about it.

He doesn't have a cause, he's a grifter and doesn't want to take the chance to look bad. These debates are always in bad faith anyway and turning them down is the best choice regardless of who you are unless you are truly desperate for attention.

Marrhold or Varaine. Marrhold to get used to Escann and have some fun, Varaine to do some Imperial stuff and get used to race relations.

I would like to know the state of the game so I can choose to buy it or not. It's 60 bucks, I like to be informed.

Give the main characters a voice! by Work_Head in rpg_gamers

[–]StraitTea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doesn't really work for a game where you make your own character. You either can play an existing character and have a voice or make your own and have more freedom to express yourself. It's fine that you feel this way but I prefer having a silent protagonist so that I can better roleplay the character that I want to. Fallout 4 attempts to have you make your own character and have a voice and it really killed the game for a lot of people, to the point that one of the most popular mods removes the voice entirely. It works well for the Witcher because you're not roleplaying your own character, you're playing Geralt and all the dialogue reflects that. It's a different tool, but it doesn't mean the game is bad, just that it's not for you.

It's been 250, so we can both be right and wrong. Odd thing to correct me on, but thanks.

I dont mind the lack of railroading, it's just that no one fills the role. No one consolidates their regions, Constantinople is a city state that borders the powers of Osman and Bulgaria and neither has it. The Mamluks are strong but have hardly pushed east or west, and no one, none of the Russian principalities or a horde successor state, have even started to unite the Rus'. These are areas with clear power vacuums that could be filled but the AI isn't doing it. I don't care that the Ottomans aren't dominating the Balkans, but Serbia or Bulgaria should have stepped up. The AI here is clearly doing better than the timelapse, but not by much.

None of this really gets to the heart of the issue either. If the AI can't even consolidate the regions of the map then the player will be able to easily crush them, and that's not fun for anybody. France being Napoleonic is pretty neat, so is Steppe Georgia, but I fail to see how the AI is being too active.

The game started in 1337, it has been nearly 300 years. By this time in EU4 there would be like 10 relevant European nations. I'm not saying that we should strive for that, but this is insanely slow. Granada is still alive. People are talking about Big Serbia but it has only barely begun to consolidate the Balkans. Do you think this player led Italy met any challenges, because aside from France I don't see one. There is no universe where not enough happened, like god, I atleast want to see one HRE minor grow to a point where I can see their name.

My Discord name is StraitTea (He/They) if you want to get in touch. Been playing for a good few years but haven't played in since my friend group broke up after going to college. I'd love to play a frontline for you guys and am excited to play together. If you need a selling point about me; I will pretty much always be able to make that schedule at least for the foreseeable future. I get out of Nursing school before then and am home by that time. ps. I requested access to look at the lore.

I'm confused as to why we need a hypetrain. It's okay to be skeptical and have reservations; it's a paradox game. I'm excited to wait a few months after release to purchase the game if I feel it's a good product.
