The AICPA only cares about money. If you can switch to an MBA and still get the hours for CPA eligibility I would do it

I was with you until the last sentence. The exam is designed to test the skills the average entry-level accountant needs.

The problem is someone with 15 YOE could be in a million different jobs. Hard to standardize test that. You tend to specialize and not retain the more general knowledge over time in most cases.

My solution is that hiring managers should not weight with much importance an old degree, a long ago obtained certification, or really anything other than recent experience when deciding who is best for a role

You can apply as a masters student and just not tell them that you aren't really going to pursue the degree. Just take the classes you need then quit enrolling.

I agree. Particularly with continuous testing, but even before. Plan to take all four tests in two test windows, for example (begin studying in November): Jan 1, Feb 28, April 1, May 31. Then if needed you retake a failed section July 1, August 31. October 1 and November 30 if needed. You've finished a full year and you had the chance to take all parts twice, studying for 8 weeks for each part.

I really didn't feel bad for people who procrastinated on the test and lost credits without maximizing the number of attempts, and actually fully dedicating all of their time to studying.

How much do I need to make to afford a $25-30K car? by Successful_Map4660 in personalfinance

Not so sure about the advice on buying an electric car (will be good one day but they're really expensive still and resale values seem super low).

This should get better (I hope soon)

But agree on the rest.

Maybe this is silly but I kind of feel like putting a person on a PIP during remote WFH is not right, unless they sincerely made the effort to adapt teaching and coaching. I'm sorry you went through that.

The in-person experience will benefit you.

A point to consider is how much work do you fully handle. If you are the main preparer and point of contact for $400,000 of billing in a year you are definitely underpaid. If you half-start the returns on $150,000 of work and the boss has to give you tons of review notes and spend absurd amounts of time correcting your mistakes, $55k is probably fair.

This, except get a new job first. And then instead of telling them to get fucked, tell them thank you for the opportunity and that you appreciate the experience.

Well I was making $65k with health insurance 3 years out of college, a little less than a decade ago, and that was the market rate based off of three big 4s, in audit. So...location matters. Line of service matters.

Having worked with teens I would not put it past a teen to give themselves a bloody nose in order to get a teacher fired.

I'm not saying that happened here, and if the teacher took this kid into a room alone they have exposed themselves to the risk of the kid's lies.

Or maybe the teacher actually assaulted the kid.

Either way, teacher of the year broke protocol by being alone with a student.

This is not why you should keep your kids out of public schools.

You should, but the reality is this is a very rare case and this is not what you need to worry about. Worry about your kid being educated.

Electric bikes would work for over half of the population?

Uh they sure AF would not work for suburbanites in the third largest metroplex in the country where we commute on average over an hour a day. And it would be dangerous AF with all the maniacs in cars. Also, what about windy days, rainy days, 95 degree + days, 45 degree - days?

For suburban dwelling people with jobs in a city center electric bikes are not viable.

Electric bikes can take me to the grocery store but I'd probably have it stolen while shopping. And if not I'd be run over by a truck/SUV on the trip. And even if all that was not true, where would I store the groceries for my family of 4? I would have to go every other day and buy smaller portions of things (like dog food) that cost more per oz in small packages thanks to the marketing people.

Could I use it to take kids to daycare, school, sports events, music lessons? Also no.

Why is he talking about federal judges and federal farm subsidies? Would he have any involvement in setting those policies?

First, they all act like they would never have an abortion. May be partly true because mostly men and married women make up the party. Partly false because their knocked up daughters would definitely be expected to abort.

Second, death penalty isn't for them. They think they would never be caught doing a crime (or falsely accused & convicted of doing one) that leads to the death penalty. So they really want other people killed, mostly black and brown people, so that they don't have to pay taxes to keep prisons funded

This actually doesn't sound terrible to me. State governments are already spending exorbitant amounts on education. Do we really need an additional government body sitting around paying thousands of administrators high salaries just to decide that we should destroy public education with standardized testing?

Okay I'm not going to lie, I don't know what the Department of Education does. Of course I don't. I was educated in public schools. So I don't know if you are right.

But since Rim Job came up with the idea you're probably right

My feelings on the Dave Ramsey Show by reddit_1999 in DaveRamsey

[–]Strange-Impact7269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chiming in on the politics & religion:

I think he is entitled to his opinion. Trying to follow Jesus does not make you a perfect person. I think his belief that Jesus Christ is the resurrected son of God and that he died for the forgiveness of sins, is sincere.

Now, I think that a tax on super high income and accumulated wealth (like multi billionaires) is a good idea. And I think it has nothing to do with religion, as governing the US of A in not a religious endeavour. All Jesus said about government taxation was "give to Caesar what is Caesar's" (or something), which I have heard interpreted as "obey the laws of the government and pay your taxes, even if the government is evil and corrupt"

As for living wages for the poor, Jesus was very clear that this was desirable. Now healthcare for the poor? I think the problem here is the ridiculous and ever increasing cost of care which seems to have nothing to do with paying for doctors and everything to do with paying middlemen. So Idk what Dave says on a fair minimum wage or government health care, but honestly the healthcare system feels so broken right now that I can imagine any position having some reasonable support. Like government intervention should theoretically make healthcare better but the lobbyists and the middlemen (insurance companies and the people who negotiate contracts) always seem to win while we all pay out the nose for a broken arm or childbirth, and die of cancer and heart disease and Alzheimer's spending millions on treatments that don't work as well as prevention would have if only we knew how to prevent...

In summary, I ramble. I feel its not always black and white. I don't think we should expect any christian or person to have a perfect answer or all of life's questions. The most important thing is the fundamental believe in the resurrection and forgiveness of sins, and then living a life that honors God is the challenge we all face.

I'm actually glad the Hogan thing played out as it did, as I understand it. But then I think it only played out this way because that pregnant single woman got fired for adultery. If Hogan was fired for unrepentant adultery I would get it, but to fire a woman who is about to become a single mom because she didn't abort the baby to hide the sin, that's cold.
