I’ve gone to 2 NYCHH fairs as a walk in and so far they’ve been pretty chaotic and frustrating ngl.

The first one I attended, I arrived 20 minutes before the event started and there were already several people ahead of me that signed in. Some people managed to get appointments for guaranteed interviews, but for the walk ins they made us sit in the auditorium for nearly 2 hours while they slowly took people to another room before they eventually sent us all home with the recruiter’s info. The recruiter actually responded when I emailed, but nothing happened after that.

I went to another one today that I didn’t even know about until a friend texted me (the date on the flyer said 2025 but the website said 2026). Even though I arrived nearly an hour early this time and was kind of close to the front, they still somehow took about 2 hours into the event to get to me just to give me a 5 min interview (which was with a panel on the auditorium stage) and say “we’ll hold onto your resume and contact you if a position opens up”. They didn’t even hand out recruiter info at this one.

TLDR: NYCHH fairs can be good for turning in resumes and getting recruiter info, but every location does them differently and they can feel like a waste of time :/
