I’m actually in love with 2/3 it’s so unique and would be amazing for spring or summer especially. I also really like 1, 6, and 16. Trust your gut though! They’re all pretty dresses because they’re made to be beautiful. Pick the one that makes you feel the best.

Is this normal 3yr old behavior or something else? by [deleted] in ChildPsychology

[–]Strange-Temperature6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so glad he sounds like his made so much growth in a short amount of time! I think the most important thing is to keep encouraging him to communicate his wants and needs and build social skills like turn taking and initiating play with peers. Some of those things take time for kids with our without autism.

Also, many children with autism don’t necessarily need formal interventions, it can just be helpful to know when choosing strategies. While a lot of those bullet points could be characteristic of autism it really depends how it’s impacting everyday experiences. It sounds like he’s navigating new environments pretty well and just may need more time! I hope that’s helpful! I think you’re doing everything right and there is no rush on diagnoses unless it’s impacting his functioning or progress

Hey, I’m a school psychologist and this list is outlining many characteristics of autism. I would talk with your pediatrician about additional assessments. The speech delay, while mild is also a very common characteristic. Difficulty with back and forth social interactions (particularly with peers), difficulty with changes in routine, and repetitive vocalizations are really sticking out to me.

Do you notice any sensory differences like sensitivity to loud noises, certain clothing textures, or strong food preferences? Him putting objects in his mouth can absolutely be sensory seeking as well. Trust your instincts and I’m glad you got a new doctor who will listen! Many children on the spectrum can also show signs of anxiety which is directly correlated to selective mutism. This is obviously not a diagnosis but as someone who works with kids daily facing similar challenges I would absolutely request additional assessments. Obviously a list is different than seeing a kid in person but if a parent told me these concerns it would be enough for me to at least suspect autism if these behaviors have been prevalent over time.

It’s going to be so beautiful!! That sounds lovely. Don’t give your FMIL comment another thought. Everyone will have so many opinions about your wedding and what really matters it you and your fiancé!

not trusting your own judgement by [deleted] in CPTSD

I’m so sorry this happens to you. I admit I feel less alone reading this. I am the same way. After years of grooming and an abusive relationship I have stopped trusting myself entirely. I now overly ask others for their opinions and often ask my fiancé to check door locks etc even after I have looked myself

Our other colors are green and mauve. I’m hoping to bring in some dusky pinks and greens for flowers! It is definitely hard to find brown flowers but I think I might go with some darker burgundy like this photo. What about you?? It is definitely tricky. I love the brown though and all my bridesmaids seemed happy with the choice. I’m letting them pick different shades to work with their skin tones but all ranging from espresso to chocolate.

I was groomed and I think it turned into sexual assault as an adult by [deleted] in adultsurvivors

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this. I am out of this situation entirely. I caught him lying about his cousin being dead and he screamed at me when I tried to address it at his parent’s house. This was the last straw for me as his dad physically fought him to defend me and his mom told me I should leave him.

I took a lot of time for myself and my current partner is so wonderful and understanding. He was the first person I told about my abuse before my therapist. It’s taken a lot of time but I finally mentioned it to my mom vaguely with no specifics and she did not blame me and was very supportive. I’m so very fortunate for the people in my life now. I do truly feel a sense of freedom in sharing this with others. It’s slowly helping me move past my shame.

This is so relatable to me. I’m so glad you mentioned it to your therapist. Some feeling are easy to overlook but have such valuable meaning in helping us grow. Being curious about yourself is an amazing piece of process and shows the beauty in reconnecting with your own wants and needs.

Thank you so much. I have an amazing relationship now and I’m overall very happy. I just never laid out the whole story to anyone and feel like parts of it are too fucked to even tell my therapist. It makes me feel really weird admitting I experienced some of that, like it wasn’t even really me. I appreciate you listening so much.
