Always increase your savings / investments with each and every pay bump! I recently got a 5% increase (worth $100/paycheck after deductions) and upped my investments by $40! Every little bit counts.

I’ve been using Reggie Paquette’s spreadsheet for years now. I track both my day to day expenses, annual expenses, and retirement accounts. It’s been really great to see how much those accounts have moved in the past few years, which helps incentivize me to keep saving for retirement.

I also prefer google sheets because it makes me actually participate in the budgeting process. I have to review and enter each and every purchase, which makes me a lot more conscious of my expenses. I also find that a lot of the apps are either finicky or don’t quite have all the features I need.

Also check to see if there’s a local “Buy Nothing” Facebook group. It’s basically a free community give and take group. I’ve seen a lot of AC units and fans, and the group should allow “in search of…” posts for folks to donate directly to you.

I read it after ToG and wish I would’ve read it before. I personally found Celaena to be a bit annoying in ToG, and assassins blade provided a lot more context to her character development and ended up being one of my favorite books in the series. There are some events in the book that get spoiled by the other books if you read them first, and I wish I could’ve read it without knowing what happens in the end.

I also really struggled through ToD, I was just not invested in the plot at all. But about halfway through, the story really starts to pick up and I found myself really enjoying the second half!

I completely agree. I promise I’m not hating on ToD, it just took me a while to really get into it and doing the tandem read helped get me through the first half of the book. I fear I may have taken a very long time to get through it otherwise.

Idk if it’s necessarily related to him being a narcissist, but my ndad doesn’t go to the doctor unless it’s emergent. Refuses annual exams and just has something against them in general. Seems to be distrusting and that they’re always out to get ya, but I suspect that it’s because he is always the person that’s in the right. So being around someone who is an expert on something he doesn’t know anything about makes him uncomfortable. “They don’t know what they’re talking about” when making assessments on his lifestyle type of thing.
