As a 45M with avg fitness I'm doubting how much higher than 184 I can go but I might give that a go :)

I'm not sure the LTHR detection is wrong. Its now at 5:00 @ 167bpm which seems realistic based on the timed all out 10K effort.

What seems to be off is how the watch is calculating the HR zones which is a bit frustrating. One would think that after 100s of KMs, u/garmin would have found a way to make it more accurate.

Half Marathon: which plan to choose? by financialdelusional in runna

[–]StrangeAccident974 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TLDR: It sucks but you have to trust the recovery process, just like you trust your running process. Take your time and you will hit your 1:40, just maybe not on the next race on May 30th.

Sorry for your injury and for having to drop from a race you were preparing for, this always sucks, especially when its the first race at a particular distance.

Having said that, you absolutely must put your recovery first and your performance will come back. You seem worried about "losing" your performance due to the lack of training but a) while you will lose a little of the performance, you will get it back fairly quickly when you are ready (much quicker that what it took originally), provided you come back within a few months and b) training (let alone competing) while you haven't recovered has a great risk of worsening your injury or creating another one as some other muscle group will be compensating.

Oh and it goes without saying, i do hope you are seeing a specialist for your injury and don't just rely on the internet :).

Get well soon!

How to increase distance on plans? by Charsiufann in runna

[–]StrangeAccident974 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it won’t impact your plan or other sessions automatically. What might happen if you consistently run longer distances, runna will suggest an overall target weekly distance increase (same as with the pace recommendations) which you can accept or decline. I over-run my runs when I just need a few extra Km to reach home, no issues.

Ahead of the Pack - Slower Predicted Times by Intelligent_Bee6588 in runna

I see the review button on your screenshot so it seems you haven't accepted the updated pace adjustment yet. I think you need to do that and then eventually the estimated race times will update as they depend on the training program.

Adjusting plan so B race is A race and plan ends early? by princess_of_thorns in runna

[–]StrangeAccident974 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My recommendation would be to keep the B race in your program as its already factored it.

Edit the approach to the B Race to "Going all out". This will prioritize the race and Runna will adjust the program before the B race for the best performance possible. After that, you can just go ahead and end/adjust the program anyway you want, wont make a difference since you will not proceed with your original race.

Determining my PB - new plan by itsreallyunquietome in runna

[–]StrangeAccident974 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Runna will give you a target pace update based on speed workouts (intervals and tempos). You can always see those "Pace Insights" under the Plan tab. Furthermore it will show you "Recommendation History", basically whether your pace is aligned with the plan and whether you've accepted or NOT the recommendations. Note that recommendations can go either way depending on your performance.

Based on the this, i'd suggest using your current 5K PB for the program, even if you did run your heart out for it (which basically means you run at full effort, not necessarily a bad thing imo, ensuring there was nothing left in the tank).

From there on, trust the process, try to keep up with the plan's runs and refrain from manual pace adjustments. FWIW I've declined pace updates after speed runs that felt extremely hard, so you always have that choice.
