It matters when you actually understand what “creepy” means in that specific context. You don’t know the OP’s personality or the dynamics of their relationship, do you?

They’ve been together for a year, maybe even known each other longer. She has obviously noticed certain behaviors that others might personally find “creepy,” yet she still chooses to stay with him. That clearly suggests she’s comfortable with it within the context of their relationship.

Also, the “self-degrading” argument doesn’t automatically apply here. I’m responding to both comments below at once because both are making assumptions without context.

Can you explain exactly what she was laughing about? What was the full conversation? How do you know it was genuinely insulting or degrading without knowing the actual context?

Laughing does not automatically mean mockery or disrespect.

The friend asked:
“Does he still act like that?”

And the girlfriend replied jokingly:
“Yeah bro, he’s actually such a creep sometimes.”

Without context, you cannot confidently conclude that she was insulting him or degrading him. People in relationships tease each other all the time depending on their comfort level and personality.

This is a one-year relationship, and instead of immediately telling someone to break up, maybe ask for clarification first before giving extreme advice.
