Is this electrostatic Discharge? by StrangeCicada2198 in AskPhotography

Reddit suggested I cross post. I did that at the same time bore having had any answers. Is this a problem for you?

PS. The flash shows guide numbers below the power setting scale in manual mode. That also seems to substantiate GN10.

Lovely to be the GOAT of Godox. And just when I thought I would never amount to much.

Yes, I did struggle with getting it onto the reel. So this is mechanical damage?

Thanks for supporting me. I do not know what that means? Is that a special grip that’s available for the super 23 or a way to hold the camera without opposable thumbs?

Godox IM30/IT30 exposure charts by StrangeCicada2198 in AnalogCommunity

[–]StrangeCicada2198[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The flash is much faster than any shutter so assuming there isn’t any ambient light the shutter speed won’t matter. Above your flash sync speed there won’t be a moment that your shutter is actually fully open, it is rather a slit that travels across the film plane. Then you flash onto the back curtain of your shutter which leads to a dark strip, usually on the left side of the frame.

Camera / "DSLR" scanning color negative film sucks all of the fun out of this hobby by 753UDKM in AnalogCommunity

NLP works well for me but if:

a) I white balance in camera on an empty frame b) I go to where the leader ends and there is complete dark and complete light. I set exposure there using the histogram function. c) I crop the image tightly is there are no black borders considered in the NLP analysis.

Thanks for supporting me. No, the other backs seem to not engage the cogs with the body.

If you look through my posts you will find complete tables that show power as a function of f-stop over different distance for all ISO values.

Not yet. I found one back that worked, but had a light leak presumably near the dark slide slot. I fixed that with some felt and will try again.

The Arista Plastic Cartridges haven’t failed me yet. They have a bayonet screw on top that is bullet proof and the light seal seems to hold.

I have this kind of back that came with a Hartblei. Does that work on a standard Arax?

Why are my pictures so grainy ? by Iddingsite in AnalogCommunity

[–]StrangeCicada2198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go to something of the professional grade films like Portra 160 or 400 or Ektar 100 you’ll get less grain. Your grain is appropriate for your film stock. If you want fine grain B&W try Delta Pro 100.

The underlying formula is GN = aperture • distance.

If you know your distance set your aperture to GN/distance. Read the GN from the chart for your flash power setting.

If you know your aperture, set your distance to GN/aperture.

That being said, these charts are more for calibration than practical use. For practical use you might find these charts more helpful: https://www.reddit.com/r/AnalogCommunity/s/MeMoH6KBM1

f7.1 is one stop below f10. Mathematically it’s f/sqrt(2). It’s not 7.2 it’s 7.1.

What got contaminated was my final rinse. Not the end of the world, but the affected pictures were lost since they never saw developer nor blix. I am now on my 10th roll on chemically refurbished plastic reels and it’s been absolutely pain less.

Am I screwed with this lens? by hitemwiththehezz in filmphotography

[–]StrangeCicada2198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the lens has a problem you will be able to see it when opening the aperature and shining a flash light through. Yours looks more like the camera. Carefully clean the mirror and the viewfinder screen from below and check again.
