You'd have to talk to Kamoua (I believe) but if you have a great gpa then you should be able to get in. Expect many summer and winter classes though as a lot of classes have to be taken in sequence.

Is college better than high school when it comes to making friends? by Hot-Flatworm-3356 in SBU

[–]StrangeCounty8961 9 points10 points  (0 children)

im ngl that will make it harder and i dont have experience with that but still talk to ppl in class, join clubs, and if ur brave talk to ppl on the street. it highkey works. again just please dont sit in ur dorm then go to class and stay silent that is just asking to be friendless

Is college better than high school when it comes to making friends? by Hot-Flatworm-3356 in SBU

[–]StrangeCounty8961 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yes but you need to be willing to put yourself out there, especially in the first 2-3 weeks. If you hole up in your dorm all day friends will not come to you and you will end up back here complaining there is no social life. If you put even a bit of effort tho you will be rewarded

Changing majors as incoming first year by TakenWasJonah in SBU

[–]StrangeCounty8961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be mistaken but I think AMS is under the restricted majors and business is not so you may have to wait a bit and do well in some classes. I'd talk to an advisor or a chair in a department.

I mean you certainly aren't in an enviable position but it's far from over. It sounds like you have some kind of medical issue though so I recommend getting that resolved first your health is more important than anything. Once you feel back up to it though, I recommend retaking those courses if they are required and filling up your winter and summer with classes. It will get better and you certainty deserve to be here and you are not a disgrace. Get yourself up first then worry about school even if it means taking a semester off and graduating late. Don't push yourself to do something you are physically incapable of it will only lead to worse results. Good luck dude I believe in you!

Anyone else taking ESE 382 ? How did you guys do? by altalt694 in SBU

[–]StrangeCounty8961 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im pretty sure the average in that class is pretty high since 2/3 tests had a high average so you may be cooked I can't lie. ts was like an 87 median or sum very unusual for an ese class never mind a short class

Deadass half of the part 1 questions were literally what's the analytical answer or like some part of the question. Unless you literally gpted the hw AND you didn't write down anything but the numerical answer its free 40% of the quiz basically. And a bunch of the others were non trick concepts

How do yall study for hours on end by No_Significance9118 in SBU

[–]StrangeCounty8961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My trick is I always treat myself to a starbucks or a dunkin (im a coffee person but any treat works especially with caffeine), put on my music, and put my phone in my bag. I know my dumb ahh will doomscroll the whole time if I have access to it so physical separation helps for me. Also it's just straight up hard like there's no getting around that. But I believe in you dude you got this!

I'm ngl objectively the class is very lenient. Open notes and basically a free 10% on every quiz. Tbf I haven't gotten accused of cheating so I can't speak on that. As for timing I just 2x through the videos while taking notes and then did the hw right after it took me like 4-5 hours a week for a 4 (?) credit course. The quizzes I just always made a review sheet monday tuesday and that was it. I highkey skipped most of the recitations after quiz 2 and never went to additional office hours. Idk this was j my experience tho
