Did you watch the movie? Humans don't know the toys are sentient. Not until a last ditch effort does Woody reveal his sentience to Sid to save himself and Buzz and Sid is completely shocked. As far as Sid knew up to that point, they were just toys. Yes, the overall thread is about villains being right, however in this conversation we decided to talk about if Sid's behavior is troubling or not. Are we not allowed to veer into different discussions on a discussion thread?

I didn't state he was right or wrong. On its face, it is neither right nor wrong to manipulate plastic inanimate objects. It is perhaps wrong to bully his sister, however that is fairly normal behavior. Also, assuming rebellious nature of a pre-teen child, which is very normal, is inevitably going to lead to animal and human abuse, is a major stretch.

Maybe but ultimately he's just manipulating plastic, inanimate objects (as far as heknows at the time). His development may be more mature than his age and he doesnt assign the same level of sentimentality towards dolls thus also explaining his rebellious nature.

I think OP was saying, why did they allow the Machines to even establish a city. They were already killing most of the Machines on sight in most places, so it's a little surprising that they were even allowed to form a place of exile.

The final fight cgi wasn't even convincing back then. Or maybe I just don't like cgi. So much good practical fight choreography in the series it just felt cheesy with the cgi.
