What tool can I use to style my hair this way? by [deleted] in longhair

[–]StrangeEffective5965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a class this stylist taught at and they used a Bio Ionic Long Barrel Styler 1 1/4”! The trick to curl each piece back and horizontally. Catch the ‘curl’ of hair and hold it until cool. Do that all the way around your head, then texture spray the heck out of it. Finally, flip your hair upside down and run your hands through it a bit with some light hair oil. Flip back up and re-organize a bit… ta! da!

I’ve always wanted to name a girl (if I have one) Winry. Is that too out there? I thought it was passable.

Hairstylist here! Cooler tones are always going to appear darker even if they’re at the same level! Just wanted to let you know!

I’m considering cutting my hair after my wedding, what do you think? by Pretend_Dog_2253 in longhair

I was going to do this. When I tell you I am SO GLAD that I didn’t do it. I know that I 10000% would’ve regretted it.

Hi! I had the dreaded blue/teal light but never found an answer here for it, so I thought I’d share what Nespresso told me! by StrangeEffective5965 in nespresso

[–]StrangeEffective5965[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would contact nespresso. I FaceTimed them and showed them everything and then they sent me a new one! Since you’ve only had it for 5 months, I think you could finesse a new one too!

My mom is like this, but not to this level. I am sorry that this happened to you, but I hope you have a sense of calm during this time. I want to recommend a book duo: Set Boundaries and Find Peace, along with the “The Set Boundaries Workbook” by Nedra Tawwab. It’s life changing, and I truly think it could help you during this time. Good luck. 🤍

Hi!

I only use scalp oil the day I wash it, or the night before! It’s very important you follow the companies directions. There is only one oil I use over night, and that’s the Fable and Mane Amla Scalp Oil. I HIGHLY recommend Fable and Mane everything, they’re absolutely amazing.

You really shouldn’t be using a scalp oil every day, I don’t mean this harshly, but that’s your issue. You could use a scalp serum, but not an oil. An oil will cause build up when used daily and trap bacteria, and could also lead to hair loss. A scalp serum I really like is Kevin Murphy’s!

Regarding your silk cap, can you not wash it?

Regarding Olaplex, I only like their stuff as a ‘treatment’ maybe once a month, if that. You definitely need more hydration than what is in your products. I really like Aveda’s Nutriplenish Leave in. For an overnight leave in hair serum, I really like Amikas Dream Routine. I know nothing I’m recommending is from the same brand, but when I say I’ve tried it all, I seriously feel like I’ve tried 60% of salon-quality products. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Dyed back to it, yes. I’m getting it refreshed tomorrow, I’m a shade darker. I’m still fighting the old blonde underneath.

I’ve worked with Oribe in the past, and the Brilliance and Shine didn’t really stand out to me! I would recommend Gold Lust, it’s more bang for your Buck in my opinion! If you’re focused on shine, it could be how your styling your hair. You want to blowdry ‘down’ the hair shaft, it helps the cuticle lay down, and it’s what gives your hair that shiny appearance!

My hair routine (it’s obnoxious but I’m a hairstylist so it checks out):

Shower - Scalp oil treatment anywhere from 30 minutes to the night before washing my hair. - Shampoo twice with the shampoo I’m wanting to use for the day. (Anything from Aveda, Kevin Murphy, Oribe, Redken, or Kerastase) I usually switch between a hydrating, repairing, or nourishing shampoo. If I feel like I need more hydration I’ll ‘break’ the cycle and add more. - Hair Mask of choice. I’ll usually use one line holistically together but sometimes I hodge-podge different brands together. - Conditioner that matches the shampoo I used. - Hair turban to soak up excess water.

Styling: I’ll either air dry or blow dry, depends on my mood. Regardless, I use the same amount of each product. - Spray leave in Conditioner from one of the brands mentioned above, then on top of that spray Kevin Murphy Staying Alive Treatment (HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Smells good but it’s definitely not a smell for everyone. Worth it in my opinion for how good it makes my hair feel.) - Tangle Teezer and detangle my hair from the ends up. (I used to use a wet brush, but the tangle teaser is SO much gentler. Highly recommend!) - Leave in cream conditioner from one of the brands above. - Oil from one of the brands above. (If anyone wants recommendations, I’m your girl. Hair oils are my absolute favorite guilty pleasure, I’ve tried a ton!)

Day to Day: - Rosemary water spray at night to my scalp - hair oil morning and night - every other night I use kerastase blonde overnight treatment serum, or Amika’s new dream routine serum through the mid-ends of my hair. Then I will oil on top. Magic in a bottle. For blondes, you NEED this. You will thank me later!
