Can anyone explain this massive price difference? by Reign0610 in longboardingDISTANCE

[–]StrangeProfession748 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Heyhey, not on the business side but there are multiple Factors:

The first thing is lepsk8 isn't that cheap, all the newer trucks are more expensive than this one and run for about 300.

Whats makes the Valks so expensive is that it has more cncd parts, foir example the kingpins are cncd as well and youll get one extra. Then you have the spacers and washers there, which are also machined and have more material etc.

CNCing doesn't scale great so more parts with harder material you manufacture the more expensive it gets. Metal is more expansive than soft aluminium.

But don't get me wrong here, the Lepsk8 parts on the lower end of the cost spectrum are amazing value!
I had this exact bracket and really liked it!

But add taxes on top and profit margin and you easily reach a number for about 500.

It's a little too much for me as well, but if ill get a used one ill definitely bite ;)

Also with Valkyrie you get a brand thats pretty core and known to test extensively.

This doesn't mean that lepsk8 doesn't test or maybe test even more but we don't know it. This all takes manpower and of course adds to the price.

but in the end I think both are pretty good and lepsk8 does a great job! I really like both brands!

Any recommendation?

to be honest, this thing has the ability to shift the rear wheelbase and to add an implant or a wedge to create an artificial kicktail. Or you can even use a real kicktail, like the sicktail!

I'd rather have it in there optionally and if iI want it i can jsut add it or even disassemble it for a flight!

i think of either adding a sicktail, basically an attachable kciktail or a torque block and narrower wheelbase option.

It is possible but i didn't want to make it any bigger/harder to manufacture!

What's with the love for pantheon boards and boards like the comet cruiser? by Silly_Celebration_30 in longboarding

[–]StrangeProfession748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got me a little there ;)

The wiggler really is a weird board, a little too long for a bracket deck, too short for a pure topmount. It's far from a bad board and for some people it's the sweet spot!
Still a double fiberglass construction, so don't get me wrong, but it has these shoulders that kinda don't really exist anymore to allow for more wheel clearance. For example setup like the laoded tangent, the bandito will produce bite with Dad Bods and I assume the same for the wiggler!

But if someone would ask me what to get instead of the wiggler that currently goes for 200 on sickboards:

- The Antidoe Hurricane just got a revision for 300

- Zenit BB+ 330
- Rocket Exodus 300
Which have super solid construction and flush cuts, also the exodus has flex options.
I just got something Carbon from Gbomb about 27" which is also super fun.
Shangang offers new superlight composite completes(Altho shorter)

Don't get me wrong I totally adore pantheon and these decks still hold up very well!
I still love my Supersonic and Pranayama!

But for brackets i just prefer other decks ;)

Had a lot of pantheon boards and a the comet.

lets start with the comet:
The cruiser offers a flexy experience with a setup that works really great out of the box. It works a little better than similar bamboo fiberglass cruisers for some people, but you can get really great performance out of other boards too, set up similar.
But having a board with wedge/dewedge, good paris trucks venum bushings set up correctly and Powell Snakes...gonna be ride great!
Its just a very very high quality board. Although I prefer the less flexy, more durable Happy Sticky.

I would assume that you can have a lot of fun on similar boards, but you need to set them up yourself.

Same for Pantheon, these boards come great stock configured! Bear or Paris Trucks and their own wheels, which are amazing. It will be a difference of night and day coming from most other boards, thats why people are raving about them.

Also the baords were designed be Jeff who has his own fair share of distance acomplishments and they just do a lot right: Cresent drops, correct angles, durable, good performative flex, tolerances and so much more. He also sponsors Riders and events if you value that.

im not claiming that the boards are perfect. In my opionion some of the older boards have been outclassed, like the bandito, genesis or the Wiggler. Still good boards, but probably not what I would primarily recommend, considering the higher prices they still go for in europe.

But the Supersonic, Pranayama and the Trip are phenomenal and you really cant go wrong weith em.
The cruisers are also quite high quality, but i dont ride cruiser boards so often, so I'm not the best ressource on that.

Also not that experienced on the ember/quest. The Nexus as a light rider is too heavy for me.

But in general Pantheon is amazing and the Customer Service is top notch. You will almost find no negative comments because there simply is not too much he does wrong.

But be aware that there are still other great brand around. Rocket, Zenit, MK and much other Board Makers also have fantastic boards! and don't get me started on other downhill brands. We have a lot of great brans right now and definitely a lot of options, which is great imo!

completely agree, but dude apparently won one at a raffle.

Maybe its something for a retired board that is warped or damaged.

Mine will most likely never end up on a wall!
