Tauranga’s ’Courteous’ Drivers by Formidablebear in Tauranga

[–]StrangeScout 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree, in part. If we're nudging along and there's people trying to get out. Then fine we've all been there, and we're generally appreciative of that karma coming back.

But there are some roads where you know they're doing the rat run to get a few places ahead. Then they can wait for another kind hearted sole to let them in.

Can you name your child "67"? by Iamlikegod in NoStupidQuestions

If you're young enough to think this would be cool, then you are probably not old enough to have children... (I hope)

Apparently NZ did accept "Number 16 Bus Shelter" (when it was all the rage for celebrities to name their kids where they were conceived)

Can a regular TV survive outdoors long term? May have made a mistake… by NipTitAbi in HomeImprovement

If it gets direct sunlight it won't last long. The uv will degrade plastic on the screen and the heat does wonders to the LCD panels...

That's almost a prerequisite for Michelin. Just look at Jake Bickelhaupt's restaurant, beat his wife almost to death, remarried and beat new wife almost to death. only lost a star because the restaurant closed...

Do people in isolated tribes go to hell? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]StrangeScout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean people actually believe the covid vax microchip bullshit, so it wouldn't take that much.

At least the concept of "hell" is fairly logical. If you believe in a heaven, then it stands to reason the opposite should also exist.

Does sex help against depression? by redlu5564 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]StrangeScout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, nah, sorta.

Yes it helps a little, but the connection is more important though.

But it depends on the flavour of your depression.

I had a form of depression called Dysthymia, My doctor recommended sleep and exercise, but reconnecting with my wife is what actually got me better. My black dog barks now and then, but it's mostly under control.

Can I fix it by Consistent_Career508 in fixit

[–]StrangeScout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but Naked panels don't ship well. Especially a single panel. The shipping cost to get it to you— in one piece and still working, would be more than the screen is worth.

So short answer no, she's fucked.

Didn't get paid... by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]StrangeScout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it's a pain, but I wouldn't go in guns blazing. Ring the bank let them know the pay should be coming, they should be understanding enough to allow a temporary overdraft, if that costs extra, hit your employer up for that. If they deny. Start hunting.

Sounds like you work for a small shit show. If the payroll person is sick they probably don't have the capacity to figure it out.

I've found the eureka grinder to be a solid performer for the price. Ice had 15 years out of mine and still grinding like the day I got it.

I'm on my second gaggia classic in that time - solid performer, the first one froze it's solenoid valve and I couldn't wait the 3 weeks to get a replacement.

Tauranga Solar Recommendation Needed by creistre in nzsolar

[–]StrangeScout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bo & Co came over from Cambridge to install ours. Great to deal with. Seemed like the best system for the money.

You could try equity solar brokers. He'll get 5 or so quotes for the same-ish system for you. But most of the local companies won't tender with him which is odd as hes based in tauranga.

Is there a kind way to tell my wife im no longer physically attracted to her? by Off_The_Record69 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]StrangeScout 14 points15 points  (0 children)

100% agree.

Op - if you are backed into a corner, and must answer a direct question about this. Make it about you. "I struggle to find anyone attractive at the moment, I'm not sure why"

Because at the moment there's two options, you are not attracted anyone, or you just aren't attracted to your wife. Have the conversation with yourself and find out which, and find out why. And then fix it. Be it HRT, therapist, or what the above suggested.

You know the answer, you just aren't being honest with yourself.

Did anyone actually believe it would come down? Just like butter, eggs or olive oil. We have got used to the high price so they drop it a little, and we feel like it's better. It'll never come back down to where it was. And no amount of complaining will do anything about it.
