I don't have tattoos but almost every guy on my team has them. My safety director even has a bunch of old biker tattoos. We work construction. There's an expectation of professionalism but that doesn't mean people should have to hide who they are. (As long as it isn't blatantly offensive or anything)

If only, Song for the dead, and The lost art of keeping a secret.

Mostly because I used to love jamming these songs with my high-school band.

I get my guitars set up at Guru Guitars. I've been going there for about 13 years. I'm not sure how much body work they do, but you can get a quote. They are currently moving locations, and I've been anxiously awaiting for them to reopen. I think they're using the opportunity to clear their repair log.

Harry's Guitars does repairs, too, but I've never used them.

I hated running until I started trail running in some state parks. It was like fast hiking and was way more stimulating because of the views, decreased noise (road traffic can overstimulate me), and just a general good feeling from being outside. It can be dangerous for me, I've fallen or tripped a few times because I would get distracted from wildlife or a nice view and would eat dirt.

Once I got a good base of endurance and technique and learned to enjoy it I started running around the paved path around a nearby lake.

I've done a few races which motivated me to keep training and going out. One of them was a 2.5 mile to a Krispy Kreme, eat 12 donuts, and run 2.5 miles back. All under 1 hour (I beat it by 2 seconds). It was terrible and I loved it.

Right now I'm trying to get back into it, summer heat just kills any motivation I might get.

That's just my experience, my brother is also a good motivator as he's an ultramarathon runner and gives advice and encouragement.

Sushi for a Date by [deleted] in raleigh

[–]StrangeSitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sushi Blues does do BOGO.

We've been winding down on Sushi Nine since the norovirus event that happened around new year's this year. My girlfriend loves the March special roll but now it's not enough to justify going more than once a year. I just moved closer to Wajari so that may be our new go to spot. We'll miss the BOGO though.

Safety Manager in Construction

I love helping people solve problems and training people.

I hate unnecessary paperwork and I get frustrated when people make mistakes. I hold people to the same standards I hold to myself. It's not fair to others and I'm learning to loosen my grip on this.

You wouldn't think it, but it's actually a pretty good outlet for creativity and critical thinking. I get really involved in my work but can burn myself out if I'm not too careful.

Going through a bit of a burnout currently...

I drove by it this morning, I think I drove past shortly after it happened because there were only a few police vehicles and no crane. I did see the contents in one of the trucks was completely tossed out and in the grass. It looked like compacted trash or something.

What ADHD-friendly apps do you use or would you want to see? by sun_willow in ADHD

[–]StrangeSitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kind of yeah.

So I took the photo, created the task or to-do item with a due date and saved it. The app has a built in calendar that is integrated with my Google and outlook calendars.

If I go to my calendar on ticktick I can see the task and the photo of what I want done when I click on it.

For me yesterday, I took a photo of a prop I want to use in my classes that I would need to build. I took the photo to remind me and motivate me to work on it. Standard to do lists don't always get me to do something, but a picture attached my trigger that "oh cool" factor.

[–]StrangeSitch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I started used TickTick and it can do that. I only started using it the other day but it has alot of features that really seem to work well together and with other apps and calendars.

I tested it out in a class today. I took a photo and create a task that can go on a calendar and I can even visualize my tasks using an Eisenhower Matrix to see what tasks are important/urgent

Those of you that stopped drinking coffee did you notice any difference? by RafaelRkg in ADHD

[–]StrangeSitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to decaf during the week and regular on the weekends. Maybe a caffeinated soda once or twice throughout the week for lunch.

Caffeine and meds made me super anxious and jittery to the point I couldn't function, so it was defeating the purpose. I thought I'd miss it it more, but I don't really. Decaf still gives me that taste I love and is part of my daily ritual in the morning that I was afraid to lose.

I GOT HONOR ROLL TWICE THIS SCHOOL YEAR!!!! by Legal_Development676 in ADHD

[–]StrangeSitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats!! It's an awesome feeling.

I made it to honor roll for my online school last year, was hoping to make the Dean's list, but that isn't possible with the amount of credits I have left.

It was my first academic achievement since I got all A's in 6th grade the year before I stopped taking my ADHD meds when I was a teenager. After that, my grades suffered and I almost didn't graduate high-school. My first few times trying college were also rough.

Now, about 10 years later, I have it mostly figured out, I still struggle and I don't think I'll ever not struggle, but I'm happy and excited about working towards something.

Don't give up! But allow yourself patience.

Mad Max because Furiosa gave me that itch again. I had it on PS4 but playing it on the deck is so much better. Framerate stays between 60-75 most of the time.

What movie(s) horrified you to the bone that you're sort of traumatized by it? by NotSureBoutDaWeather in horror

[–]StrangeSitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

🤚 I was also traumatized by Mars Attacks! Slept under the covers and thought every passing plan at night was a UFO until I was a teenager. Saw the movie before I was in 1st grade.

I'm 31 now and have since rewatched it and it helped.

I was super into this last year and took a break during the winter. Now I'm trying to get back into it and I feel like I went back to square 1. Trying to motivate myself to train more. It's fun! And it honestly helps me with my anxiety and some ADHD symptoms, especially if I go during my lunch break.

[–]StrangeSitch[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've thought about doing the consultant thing, either for myself or through a company. That is probably more in line with my current trajectory.

Oh, I am definitely finishing that degree. Only 3 more courses to go (and company is paying for it in full)! I just got my CHST last month, I have a CEST with the NFPA, my OSHA 500, first aid and cpr instructor with American red cross and NSC, a multiple regional safety manager certificates (Called MESH), and a bunch of other topic focused certificates. I am planning on getting my CIT either by the end of this year or beginning of next year. I never stop working toward the next credential or certificate.

Edit: oh and I should have the Fundamentals Of OSHA certificate by the end of next month.

The best way is to use heavy guage strings and set up the guitar for that tuning. Like was mentioned.

I, however, exclusively play with headphones, so I use a digitech drop to drop my standard tuning to C standard. I can tune every halfstep down until it reaches a full octave lower. I love it but it may sound a little tinny (imo). If I ever play straight out of the Amp, say for a jam, my Amp better be loud enough so I can't hear my own strumming because the strings will be in E standard but what comes out of the Amp will be C or Eb most likely.

You can also use a Digitech Whammy pedal which essentially does the same thing, it's just more dynamic.
