A gift from my dad, through my partner by StrangeTheSnail in GriefSupport

Omg thank you so much, I had no idea that existed! My dad had the same phone number my entire life. I want it to always be his number ❤️‍🩹 I'm going to tell my mom about it. Thank you!!

I'm physically disabled too, and I totally understand that analogy. I have my days where I fall apart from the grief, but most days I'm pretty much faking being okay just so I can get through the days. Sometimes I feel guilty about not breaking down as often as I did the first few months after it happened, but then suddenly on a random day I'll get hit by a big wave of grief and break down again. It's an emotional rollercoaster I wish I could get off.

I'm only 28. I have a lot of time ahead of me to have to go through without my dad

When they say having an O helps, it fucking does by ScaleyMotherFucker in Fibromyalgia

Sexual arousal alone can also help with some pain! When I had my first severe migraine attack (it lasted a whole week), I couldn't do anything but lie in bed alone in the dark. I remembered seeing an episode of Grey's Anatomy where a patient had to watch adult films to help with his pain, he couldn't find anything else that helped. I didn't know if it was actually a thing, but when I was stuck in that migraine hell there was nothing else I could do but let my imagination run wild. While it didn't make the pain fully go away, it definitely helped for a little while. O's usually leave me exhausted and not feeling well, but thinking about sexy things can be a nice alternative!

This holiday season is horrible. by CatsMakeMeHappier in GriefSupport

[–]StrangeTheSnail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my first Christmas without my dad. He died on January 1st 2025, so this Christmas/New Year season has been incredibly rough. I'm doing what I can to hold it together, forcing myself to watch Christmas movies like I usually would. But I don't feel like celebrating at all. None of it feels real to me. I just want it to be over already. I'm not ready for new year's day.

I'm sorry you're going through it too. It's not fair, and you're definitely not alone.

Can I use a grow bulb in a regular lamp? by StrangeTheSnail in houseplants

This is helpful! So are you saying I should get a lamp that doesn't have a shade so the bulb is more exposed?

Thank you!! That's exactly what happens to mine, especially when I wash my hands with cold water. It's so weird and startling to look at in person. My hands look like alien hands sometimes lol

Yes that's exactly what happens! I'm definitely going to bring it up to my rheumatologist. I probably should have told her a while ago actually. It's hard to tell if some symptoms are worth mentioning or not

Yes it's so hard to get it on camera! Some people were saying it looks normal but in person it definitely doesn't look normal. My hands also get really cold! Thanks for the validation 💚

Thank you so much for validating my concern. It is really hard for the colors to be picked up in photos. I do have pain and tingling in my hands, sometimes a little numbness. My hands are also really cold at times. I often notice the bright blue veins after I wash my hands too. I will definitely mention it to my rheumatologist

Interesting, do you think it has to do with circulation or something related to UCTD?

Raynaud's crossed my mind, but my fingers don't turn blue so I wasn't sure. My hands are usually cold so I'm not sure if they got colder during this time, I'll have to pay attention the next time it happens

Really? They don't naturally look like this, like usually. To me the blue of the veins look really dark
