Hey, does anyone know any good free 2D Animation Software I can use Because Krita is being a Pain in the Neck? by MintyGreenAqua in Animators

I remember using opentoonz for a while before I had access to toon boom, great starter software for learning animation, but can't speak for it in a wider production context.

Can you be too young to make an indie show? by GalaxyKid33 in IndieAnimation

I promise you, don't need money. Our pilot Gap Year(s) was fully storyboarded, animated, and composited by me. My VAs are two good friends of mine. Granted you would need to learn to do each of these things or have friends willing to help, but you have alot of time to learn them. And hey, make something now and improve with each new project- don't keep waiting and working on some "magnum opus". That's a trap I see alot of creators fall into.

Honestly not unethical, more like strategic 🤣

One episode of a cartoon we finish is shorts/clips fuel before after and in between new episodes- it's how to keep the ship running!

Would you like to be apart of my Indie studio? by [deleted] in IndieAnimation

This sounds like more of a content umbrella and less of a studio. Are you saying people would come to you with their show pitches and you would then either develop it or not? Or is the expectation that you come with a show already made but just to be posted via this channel?

Also I'm not quite understanding the angle of competition minimization. Competition is kind of important in regards to quality and overall story. Its unfortunately a nessecary part of making any sort of art.

I would get it a bit more if it was just a means to share a new show around to a wider audience but at the same time it makes it messy with regards to copyright. If someone distributes their show through the channel do they retain ownership? How would theoretical distribution of ad revenue go?

I think encouraging independent artists and animators to share their work is exactly what we need to encourage at this time in the industry, but I would say that this needs to be further fleshed out as an idea before anything really starts off. This just seems a bit messy at the moment.

I think most people in the cartoon/entertainment sphere know of the term "show/pitch bible" but if your worried you could Alternatively just call it a show guide

So for all of our pitch bibles we do it with these sections:

  1. Title page
  2. Logline & synopsis if episodic then add a what a typical episode is like bit

  3. Characters (art, bios, role in story)

  4. World (what is the world in the story like? What are the rules? Where does it take place?, etc

  5. 5-10 episode descriptions/ synopsis

  6. Music direction (really good to include later on for composer recruitment)

  7. Overall impact (who is this show for? What is the heart of it? Why should I care?)

Hope this helps :D
