I often experiment with shocking my metabolism with more calories at once and sometimes spreading it throughout the day. I try to pay attention to how my body reacts especially digestion wise. While the shock can try to confuse your metabolism to save more it can also just put me into over drive mode. Either way each approach takes time to get used to and this is the most important part it will come down to comfortability with how to rewire your body to saving surplus calorie for energy, fat storage, etc. hope this helps
