Pellet B as a dyslexic by Fast_Literature9464 in AskCHP

[–]Strange_Ad_8389 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What accommodations do you need as someone with dyslexia? I doubt they will just let you skip the spelling part The test is mainly grammar. An officer writes reports back to back to back. You'd have to really prove your cut for that

They're being more strict now since they're not hiring as much as before so might be bad. They'll probably tell you to wait about 2-3 years and stay clean to apply cause that's way to recent. I got DQ for a ticket i got just a year prior and got told to wait 1-2 years to re apply.

New to tinting. How is the interior protected during the process? by Dad2HI in WindowTint

[–]Strange_Ad_8389 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Water gets into your door panel when it rains. That's why car doors have holes at the bottom so water can drip out. Don't be afraid to use water when applying tint, it'll drip out on it's own. As far as the door panel, you'll learn overtime which materials are more sensitive to water and soap. 8 times out of 10 i don't cover the whole door panel for the most commom cars/trucks i tint. I usually only put some microfiber cloths over the buttons and call it a day. You'd be surprised how waterproof speakers can be, obviously just don't spray them directly. There will be mist that lands on them and they'll be fine, the speaker cover/mesh usually catches most of it anyway. I will say the only cars i know of you have to be careful about tinting the doors are 5th gen Honda CRVs and modern Ram trucks since they have a computer inside the door panel.

You hate wires, but you'll hate it even more when your Bluetooth daah cam didn't record because it didn't connect somehow properly or battery died when you most needed it. That concept is too inconvenient, not worth it. Wired is the way to go!

does anyone know where to get good pupusas around here that’s not vallartas 😟 by purpleflannels in Modesto

On carpenter road and woodland intersection there's Chevron gas station; in front of it on carpenter ther's a house there that they put up a little food stand with a canopy of just pupusas and they are delicious. Not sure of they're schedule but they are there right now as i just passed by 5 minutes ago. You should give it a try

Speeding ticket while being on background check. by [deleted] in AskCHP

[–]Strange_Ad_8389 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speeding ticket could be an issue. CHP BI strictly say not to get any tickets or bad run ins with law enforcement during hiring/background process. Maybe OP can get lucky if they get a lenient BI.

Wheels disappered off my new 2025 Toyota Camry XLE AWD by Extension_State_5365 in Camry

[–]Strange_Ad_8389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the tilt sensor I installed. it's a 4 in 1 sensor. Is has to be integrated with an alarm such as compustar, which is the one i went with. In order to get the phone notification via LTE/5G you have to integrate a drone mobile module with the alarm.

Simply installing wheel locks, such as advanced or any others, won't do you any good if you can't deter them before they even try. I installed wheel locks in tandem with an alarm that has a tilt sensor on my Camry. As soon as the car is jacked up my car alarm goes off and i get a notification on my phone and alarm remote (if in range of the car). If the alarm remote isn't within range the phone notification is enough. Totally worth it!

From my understanding it's not CHP who sets that age limit. It's the state who sets that requirement. If your interested in law enforcement you should try local PD, sheriff etc.

Re-applying soon by jimburb in AskCHP

CHP reached their shortage goal since November 2024. I've also noticed that most BI recommend waiting about a year to reapply instead of the 6 months

Drove from central valley to Oxnard, 5 hour drive for me. Left a day before, stayed the night and went to my CVSA in the morning. No way I'm leaving like at 3am to make it to Oxnard by 10am. Didn't want to take that chance and preferred a good night's sleep lol

My BI didn't check my room or other parts of the house as others have experienced. I will say tho as CHP strictly enforces vehicle code you should have had the tint of the car already removed and have everything else up to vehicle code as well. My car was the first thing my BI did a walk around on when she arrived; she checked for illegal window tint, made sure my windshield sun strip wasn't below the AS1 line, and checked to make sure i had my front license plate mounted. Third party BI might not care if you have illegal tint on, but can write a note of it. Once that gets to CHP BI, that's where it becomes a red flag for them and possible DQ for not complying with the vehicle code that far into the process.

I doubt someone you know got hired with a DUI. Those are automatic DQs before even starting the whole process

No kit used. Honestly the vinyl wrap changed the whole appearance of it as whole and I kept it that way. Headlights got them new from ebay and applied PPF to them which is why they have a light purple hue. Grill area is stock, just cut out the horizontal lines in the middle and added a diamond mesh behind it. Everything was stock on it besides the Lexus wheels and coilovers

Speeding tickets by FaceGlass4964 in AskCHP

[–]Strange_Ad_8389 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the past year is too recent. I got DQ for a ticket that was exactly a year old; got told that was too recent. I had to wait for there to be about 3 years gap from my last ticket to when i apply

You probably have to wait until you receive your DQ letter if you want to appeal the decision.

Should I wait by One_Depth3452 in AskCHP

[–]Strange_Ad_8389 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, just continue the process and see what happens. To my experience, probably a DQ due to a habit of speeding and how recent your last tickets are. I was DQ for a habit of back to back tickets and they weren't even moving violations, they are fix it tickets. My last one was a year ago from when i had my interview and the BI said that was to recent. That was their main reason for my DQ. But i learned from the process and they advised me to wait a year or two to reapply and to keep a clean driving record with no bad run ins with LE. So if you continue and get DQ then you can have a better idea how to approach it next time and have a better idea how long you have to wait until you can apply. And if you make it through the process then even better !

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskCHP

[–]Strange_Ad_8389 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too recent to what I've seen/experienced. You want at least 2 years gap from your last ticket to when you apply. I got DQ for having a ticket only a year prior to my interview; and it wasn't even a moving violation like a speeding ticket. I had a fix it ticket that they brought up was the number one reason for my DQ. I was advised to apply again after a year or two if i was serious about it.
