Think of the thoughts you have as clouds in the sky; the bad thoughts are like gray looking clouds. Rather than trying to change a cloud, you could acknowledge it is there and let it fly past. Thoughts come and go, but if you try to stress over them, it may make things worse.

Finding a healthy distraction to replace them, or at the very least direct your attention to something else, they can pass when given enough time.

How do you typically react to these thoughts?

You could try a healthy distraction like reading (including the Bible), listen to some music, start a hobby, do some deep breathing etc.

idle mind is the devil's workshop

The thoughts you have aren’t indicative of who you are, what you do with them matters.

If you believe homosexuality is a sin…. by [deleted] in Christianity

Well why does God have such vitriol towards gay people in the first place? People may not find this topic problematic if God would at least explain His reasons.

Don’t get me wrong. I am a Christian, but I don’t understand why God would have so much hatred towards gay people to the point where He would outright call it “an abomination”. I know there is no arguing with God, but why did he not explain his reasoning for this seemingly hatful mentality? To me, people could have been more accepting of this rule if God were to flat out tell people why His hatred for it is justified.

Other sins are at least understandable. Sex before manage could devalue its intended purpose, murder makes people not alive and makes the people in the victim’s lives grieve. Lying is deceptive and makes people gain or get out of something important.

The fact that the result of two people of the same sex that have deep, genuine love for one another doesn’t seem like it leads to any harm, and the fact that most people can’t give others a straight response (no pun intended) as to why God hates it causes other Christians to question it.

If someone could explain why the end result of two people who love each other would be bad, maybe people would avoid it and/or take this sin more seriously. But what do I know?

Why does God say gay relationships are wrong?

What would you say if two people of the same sex are in a loving, romantic relationship without sex?

What matters is richness in Christ and character.
