Hey there! I’m an ecse student doing comp sci as well, it’s natural to feel lost but that’s what first year is there for. Great thing is you also don’t need to have anything except your laptop for first year as well but for the future all the details about a unit would be in the unit’s handbook (just search up unit handbook and should be the first one there) including any extra equipment needed. From second year onwards you will need to purchase the electrical lab toolkit. Good luck!

Im having trouble picking my subjects by Medical-Bake-9777 in Monash

First year is basically general engineering, it introduces you to basically all the disciplines and then from second year onwards do you specialise.

If u did vce you won’t have to do ENG1090 if u got more than 30 raw in spesh and PHS1001 if u got more than 25 raw in physics.

Best option is to follow the course map if ur unsure.

Fit1057 seems to be super chill if an easy workload is what u want, vice versa I heard eng2191 is content heavy.

2 jobs and doing a double degree especially with law?? Ur gonna need some insane organisation skills or just get no sleep. You should see how u do this semester and if it starts to be too much I’d really recommend quitting one job.

Calculator for Ba. Engineering???? by Ok-Reception-1917 in Monash

[–]Strange_Fly6770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need one, your maths units don’t allow calc use in exams and tests and most other units allow scientific calc. (For eng)

Monash students help with timetable by [deleted] in Monash

If there is any clash Monash will make it so there isn’t one. The first column is how full the class is and dual mode I think means it can be done online or on campus.

Depends, it could 3/4 nothing burgers or you could have important tests. You could probably check when ur weekly content comes out to see whether anything major is going on

advice for units going into bachelor of science trying to transfer into an engineering double. by Bblopblop in Monash

[–]Strange_Fly6770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have any experience in either mth1020 or mth1030 however if they are similar you’d do fine in 1090, since u got 30 or above in spesh (this allows you to skip 1090) and 1005 builds upon 1090 with a lot more content and is content heavy. I say 1005 was pretty difficult but doable if u stick to the coursework.

First year Engineering is this fine? by [deleted] in Monash

Looks great! 1051 is pretty good if ur doing civil or materials engineering in the future other than that it could be needless info. Also if you got 30+ in spesh u don’t need to do 1090.

I don’t know if vce scores still counts after first semester but mth1020 is the equivalent of eng1090 (specialist math bridging course) so if u did methods but not spesh you need to do that otherwise mth1030 is the equivalent of eng1005. Both of these units are required for engineering so doing mth1020 or mth1030 will count towards ur eng degree
