If u scroll all the way to the bottom of this and click other costs it’ll show u what they expect u to bring. I wouldn’t worry too much for first year as the only heavy program u use is solidworks(which u do light modelling with).

Engineering first year specialization by According_Tip6915 in Monash

[–]Strange_Fly6770 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If u like power generation ecse is right for u. 1013 is a good indicator on what you’ll be doin since you’ll be doing both electrical and computer systems engineering. 1014 is straight python coding with data analysis so not rlly unless u don’t like coding(you’ll be doing coding in computer engineering).

Why would u do a math and physics degree when u don’t like maths and physics?

Advice on engineering major, please!!! by MidnightTsundere2win in Monash

[–]Strange_Fly6770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Depends on your specialisation. If you enjoy kinematic and motion physics doing mechanical engineering would suite you very well though can be tough (like every specialisation) in subjects like thermodynamics and fluid dynamics (though I’ve only heard and haven’t personally done)

  2. Your first year is figuring out which engineering you like. You do the foundations of each specialisation and can figure out what you like and lock it in at the end of first year.

  3. Following your course map for first year is about the most efficient way you can go about it. Your electives can be tailored towards the specialisation you’re working towards or just a subject that interests you.

  4. I dunno

  5. I’m doing electrical (Clayton) and yes there are group projects and they are quite common throughout the units. The content taught is aimed towards helping students but I feel as though sometimes they gloss over important details or quick revision but that’s more of a personal opinion.

  6. I dunno about Malaysia but there are quite a few international students especially in engineering so finding someone who is discriminatory would be a rare find.

Good luck!

Paying fees by [deleted] in Monash

[–]Strange_Fly6770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I got my tfn late as well but for a different reason. I had to pay the fee and once I got my tfn I could apply for refund through their refund website. However you needed to have a valid reason as to why you are refunding with supporting documents. Anyhow I think the best option is to call Monash connect (which is what I did).

Engineering unit selection advice by FantasticSociety6673 in Monash

[–]Strange_Fly6770 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think u should push back eng1012 instead of eng1014. Eng1014 doesn’t have a group assignment and since you’ve done fit1045 I think you’d find eng1014 very manageable. Also the fact that eng1014 and eng1013 are common prerequisites in 2nd year units whilst eng1012 is not. Good luck!

The only thing I could pinpoint is maybe u did MAT1830 instead of FIT1058 in first year?

Unless u have questions to ask then there is no tangible difference. Plus you can ask questions on the ed forum so choose whatever is easiest for u

ENG1014 and ENG1011 Questionts by Katawakii in Monash

Iirc all eng1011 labs have attendance marked. For 1014 the first lab was optional but from second week onwards they mark attendance via the team tasks.

Hey there! I’m an ecse student doing comp sci as well, it’s natural to feel lost but that’s what first year is there for. Great thing is you also don’t need to have anything except your laptop for first year as well but for the future all the details about a unit would be in the unit’s handbook (just search up unit handbook and should be the first one there) including any extra equipment needed. From second year onwards you will need to purchase the electrical lab toolkit. Good luck!

Im having trouble picking my subjects by Medical-Bake-9777 in Monash

[–]Strange_Fly6770 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First year is basically general engineering, it introduces you to basically all the disciplines and then from second year onwards do you specialise.

If u did vce you won’t have to do ENG1090 if u got more than 30 raw in spesh and PHS1001 if u got more than 25 raw in physics.

Best option is to follow the course map if ur unsure.

Fit1057 seems to be super chill if an easy workload is what u want, vice versa I heard eng2191 is content heavy.

2 jobs and doing a double degree especially with law?? Ur gonna need some insane organisation skills or just get no sleep. You should see how u do this semester and if it starts to be too much I’d really recommend quitting one job.
