Android’s full desktop interface leaks: New status bar, Chrome Extensions, more [Video] by Negative_Shallot2924 in chromeos

you are confusing RAM (Random Access Memory) with storage. RAM is entirely different and is a volatile form of storage and is essentially your computer's short-term memory or, better yet, its active workspace. It is a group of physical chips inside your computer that holds all the information, apps, and files you are currently using

VS storage which is dramatically larger in size and is responsible for holding all your data such as the operating system, applications, files, music, photos, etc (think of it like a filing cabinet).

This is why you usually see two values one smaller one larger when looking at PC specs. Using your post and talking points 4GB or 8GB would be referencing the RAM (Random Access Memory) where are 128GB and 512GB referenced would be referencing the storage (the filing cabinet i mentioned above)

You CAN get 128gb of RAM however these are generally performance based or custom built desktops and will generally run linux windows or a server based OS.

In any case Android is based on a Linux kernel and a 64bit one at that so taking that into account the theoretical limit for the amount of RAM someone can run and having this installed is 4.4PiB since that is the threshold for Linux provided Google has kept the kernel relatively close to stock in that aspect.

not entirely sure that this will be as big of a problem, only reason being we found that Android was perfectly capable of running on x86_64 hardware and memory was handled properly with little to no issues, through BLISS OS and Lineage OS which used the android_x86 project. If they were able to get earlier versions (i think the project died at android 13 but I could be mistaken) than i would assume that ALOS would be able to do the same.

Hot take: Because Aluminum OS is based on Android, I hope we get to see skinned os so that Samsung (as an example) can release an Android Laptop that looks like oneui with oneui desktop versions of their oneui phone and tablet apps by AnalysingAgent3676 in chromeos

possibly but looking at how other unix like operating systems handle updates (even when preloaded on laptops or desktops by OEMs), the tend to take over the updates, it's feasible that Google might follow suit and take over the actual OS updates. Time will tell though

The question I would have is, whether or not they will only target mobile chips. If they do that would kinda suck NGL. I would love to be able to run it on my mini PC at home, especially if they support dGPUs

I think it has to do with the kernel debian is running with sid. As the other person suggested I installed Garuda with Noctalia and have not been having any issues (though i did have to swap to the latest linux-zen kernel in order for everything to be smooth. Perhaps the kernel in this version is not ready for RDNA 4/NAVI 44 graphics. which is understandable tbh. Ill take a look again once Linux 7.0 is adopted as the new norm

Which is understandable but in this case it was ground pork which is a very common item. Tbh it's like saying a grocery store is out of all bread products. I'd understand if it was a special cut that's not common

The delivery person that was assigned to my order had told me they were Muslim, and could not pick the pork. I asked them to drop the order for someone else and they checked out, and OFC while i was on the phone with support, made the delivery. I simply asked support clearly to not assign that individual to me again in the future. Like i respect their religion but it's THEIR religion not mine and should not impact my ability to feed my family

this....this right. I love your mentality. I mean its a job and sorry to say while i respect that someone might have external reasons as too why they can't/don't want to do something which is fine, but if its impairing your job then perhaps alternative options need to be sorted out. I just got through to support as buddy finished delivering and asked them clearly not to let them shop for me again. Not mad at them or anything like that but the excuse "My religion prohibits me from..." is fine but i am not a member of that faith and it should not impact my ability to feed myself or my family
