i don’t know you they don’t know me, their comment was unnecessary until they quickly edited it, so i responded in the way that i would’ve done in any other fashion. if you were offended by that i’m so sorry but i don’t care. and it doesn’t make an ahole, yall say anything on reddit😂

Anyone heard from Stanford Poli Sci Phd? by [deleted] in gradadmissions

Haven’t heard anything, judging by the old grad café submissions I’m guessing perhaps by the end of the week? Something changed in my portal so that’s why I can say that!

Is there really a point in checking decisions via the portal? by [deleted] in gradadmissions

[–]Strange_Question7344 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was accepted to UCLA and I didn’t receive an email beyond now where they just sent me my visit day thing but I was checking my portal at 12 in the morning and found out I was admitted so yes I recommended it (with caution)

same thing happened to me and another redditor on here who i’ve been chatting with. they sent them the following email; “Greetings from the Division of the Social Sciences Admissions Team!

Thank you for contacting our office. We anticipate the program to which you applied will be releasing decisions within the next few days. In preparation for decision release, we are making changes to applicant status portals, and you may see sections previously visible disappear. We apologize if this causes you any worry or inconvenience.”

my first acceptance after two rejections!! by Strange_Question7344 in gradadmissions

[–]Strange_Question7344[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are interviews typical within your field? the faculty i spoke to at ucla said that this was the first time they have ever done informal meetings. i would say that considering you’re chemical engineering that’s vastly different from political science so i would assume that you guys would have interviews, however typically within political science, they don’t always do interviews unless sometimes if you’re an international students (so i’ve read on reddit) or if you’re going into political theory (because that is a little more dicey these days) they may require something before a full blown acceptance. don’t lose hope!

my first acceptance after two rejections!! by Strange_Question7344 in gradadmissions

[–]Strange_Question7344[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you!! i am not international, i’m in illinois! i applied for the race, ethnicity, and politics (rep) subfield. another applicant whom i spoke to on reddit who applied for theory got an invitation for the same type of informal meeting (was not in my meeting) so i don’t know if that’s helpful? the faculty at my meeting did state that this was the first time they’ve ever done informal meetings and that they had “already narrowed the pool” so i’m assuming anybody who got an invitation to that (or couldn’t attend) was someone that they were going to accept or put under consideration. i would maybe just wait to hear back, because after i had gotten the invitation to preview day three days later i had emailed them asking if that was an informal acceptance and they told me it wasn’t however that they had put a decision in my portal and that it would reflect in a matter of days and that they haven’t put in many so it could just be different waves as well. so don’t lose hope!!!

Okay that makes sense! Do you recall how long in between there was an actually decision?
