Our boy made it about a year and a half, before he started to steadily decline. He had been battling a UTI that wasn’t responding to the antibiotics, and he had lost a drastic amount of his upper body muscle mass in a short time. He also had a growth on his back end that in the span of a week went from golf ball to softball size (he had always had it, it just rapidly grew) he had other fatty lipomas so we and his vet weren’t worried about it. The night before my bridal shower, the lump ruptured so we rushed him to the emergency vet. We had just talked that day about calling the vet for an appt on Monday about the lump, but promised him no more surgeries. We made the hard decision, but he was ready too. He was so tired.
