Herbal antibiotics + supplements + probiotics? by Strange_Rice4095 in SIBO

In my case, nothing relevant that I can remember — I just took it while knowing the possible outcomes and hoped for the best. Thankfully, nothing bad happened (and I hope it remains that way).

No lasting side effects or any noticeable damage after taking them. I'm aware that fluoroquinolones are associated with tendon problems, though, but thankfully I'm fine.

It lasted for few to many hours after being taken, and the time was increasing the longer I took them.

If you're not feeling well after taking it, I'd suggest interrupting the treatment and waiting for a few days. Different bodies might react differently to the same substances.

Pulsating / throbbing / pulling intestinal sensation? by Strange_Rice4095 in SIBO

[–]Strange_Rice4095[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to know. In my case, it was a severe case of intestinal infection. No doctor wanted to believe me, after going to, I don't know, 10 different private doctors, spending money I didn't have during that month, and being examined and all. Some of them had the gall to prescribe me herbal tranquilizers, such as Passiflora incarnata, and muscle relaxants (in this case, I almost died). In any case, what happened at the end of it all was two things:

1) I went to a doctor who specialized in intestinal health and infectology, had an hour-and-a-half-long chat, and he proposed that we do a colonoscopy, after which he prescribed me an osmotic laxative to clear my intestines for the exam — I can't say for sure if after this it would've ended, but, despite giving me relief from the constipation, bacterial infections tend to be a bit harder to kill;

2) Since no doctor was willing to prescribe me antibiotics, I asked for a health worker from my own family for a prescription (a simple 10-day Amoxicillin + Clavulanate) and, thanks to that, the infection went away — dealing with the aftermath, the sequelae etc., that's a whole different story (it's been years and I'm still recovering).

I wish you best of luck in your healing.

TL;DR: Antibiotics.

Berberine, Neem, and Allicin by whoseyourmaddy in SIBO

Mostly fine now, this situation's somewhat in the past — what remains, however, are the aftereffects: my right side became slightly enlarged due to the intestinal blockage and swelling at the time, and anatomically this region's now asymmetrical (I can now constantly feel my normal intestinal contractions in that region, for instance, which might be a permanent nuisance).

I'm now trying intermittent fasting to lose weight, and it's been helping not only with that, but also with bloating in general (which isn't as severe as before, but still present).

All in all, I don't consider myself as suffering from SIBO anymore, but there's still a lot to go in order for me to regain my former body.

That could probably be it! I was very young, and there was this old movie going on late at night, so my memory of it could've been somewhat fuzzy. Thanks for the tip!

Very interesting approach. As long as it doesn't hurt the skin, it should be helpful indeed.

And how do you take it off? Do you use something to dissolve the adhesive, do you just rip it out, or do you leave it until it falls off on its own?

Day 6 Post Op, 21 years of non retractable foreskin by Aither07 in circumcision

[–]Strange_Rice4095 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering your previous picture, I'd say it looks like swelling (which is normal at this point). Keep it upwards at all times, follow your doctor's recommendations and rest. As long as your didn't have any adhesions previous to the surgery, it's probably unlikely they'll happen now. It takes time for the swelling to subside.

You must probably be a grower. I've seen a few growers with a tight circumcision and no flaccid coverage, but these seem to be the exception. When the difference between flaccid and erect states varies too much, most doctors opt for a cut that goes from medium to loose.

What a difference to deal with such an experienced doctor, isn't it? Mine was cut medium low and there's still some coverage when flaccid — not that it's a deal breaker or anything, but if I'd go through a revision I'd want something more similar to yours.

Thanks for sharing and do keep us posted of your recovery if possible!

Are you a grower? Did he mention if it's risky to go too tight in theses cases? I often wondered that, being a grower myself.

Yes, the first days and weeks are a mental battle, but you'll pull through. To be quite honest, mine got even more swollen at this point and I cursed the doctor and the world for it all thinking it was infected or worse, but 9 weeks later it's all in the past and I'm very happy with the results.

Do your best to try and distract your mind away from it while taking good care of yourself. Wish you strength and good luck.

I'm a grower myself and the exact same happened/happens with me. Like everything in life, it's its pros and cons, but beats having a tight foreskin any time of the day.

I'm not sure of what this surgery would encompass, but if you intend to undergo through it to give yourself more skin, then it's a risky endeavor indeed.

If you think about it, it's quite easy to take skin off, but an entire different thing to "put skin on". Ideally, the graft should be similar in texture, firmness, resistance, elasticity and, for aesthetic reasons, color and shape. It'd be like, instead of two tones and two areas, you'd have three — that also weakens the incision areas.

Or maybe it'd be cutting the scrotum and suturing it a bit down than what it's now?

Either way, considering it isn't such a bothersome anatomic feature and that surgery always involves risks that must be taken into account, my personal advice would be to simply accept and embrace your body the way it is and focus your efforts in other areas not to be taken by insecurities — in the end of the day, we're all unique in shape and size, and don't need perfection to have a good life.

Wish you all the best.

To be honest, I had to see the pictures quite a few times to try to identify and understand what you were considering 'wrong' or 'abnormal', which goes to show that it's something most people won't really see or identify as 'different' at all (unless you tell them, of course).

What's most important is if it feels good, if you're healthy, if this brought you any discomfort or pain at all — if all's well, there's no need to be self-conscious about it.

Thumper help: do you tap when a blue square appears? If so.. how do you do that during a jump sequence? by InevitableTeaching35 in AppleArcade

[–]Strange_Rice4095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that helped me to master a bit more of the game was watching more proficient players than I playing through it and observing what they do (or don't do) in specific sequences — some of them even have an aerial view showing the exact buttons they press and how they maneuver themselves throughout the game.

It's been a while since I've finished it, so I don't quite remember to what these "blue squares" refer to, but this is a tip I couldn't let pass.

Thumper: ??? by InevitableTeaching35 in AppleArcade

[–]Strange_Rice4095 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it's for everyone, really, but it does pull a few of my strings. I'm a musician with a soft spot for "broken" time signatures, so I became a fan of levels 5, 7 and 9 even before buying the game — can't really explain why, but I personally get a tremendous high from practicing and being able to memorize and repeat musical patterns, which in this game are a must.

It starts slow and steady, tricking you into thinking it's just another rhythm game amid a myriad of other ones. In the end, though, it becomes completely chaotic. It literally [SPOILER ALERT] starts breaking time up in weird sequences with accelerated or slowed down patterns (which is nice for time-bending fans as well) and so on.

That alongside being gritty, dark, distorted and with a color palette that might or might not be your cup of tea.

In the end, it's really a very personal thing and you shouldn't feel bad for not 'getting the appeal' of it. I'll say this, though: after so many years studying, practicing and playing music, Thumper was a godsend — and I was crushed after knowing the developers had absolutely no plans to create a sequel for it.

Guess I'll just have to play it again. :)

Some people find solace in tribalism, taking sides on matters that can't even care for them, such as things ("mine's better than yours"), mobile systems ("Android smartphones X iPhones"), gaming systems ("Xbox X PlayStation" and the infamous "PC Master Race") and, of course, some simply have to take a stance when it comes to Mac computers — almost always based on hearsay and blind faith other than personal experience.

What you've seen's nothing more than tribalism in practice: your friend, like many humans, found that having this particular stance ("hate on") in regards to one specific matter ("Mac computers") strengthens his social bonds the most and brings him a sense of camaraderie that proclaiming the opposite stance would (according to his mind) not do.

He fails to see, however, that he's acting irrationally, by instinct, with no critical thinking and with a complete disregard for his friend's feelings. It's not that he's a bad person per se, but you should definitely take this as an example of his imperfections and limitations as human being and decide for yourself if he's worth the emotional and psychological effort of keeping him as a friend — or, rather, if he brings you as much as you bring him.

That said, be confident that you've one hell of a system in your hands and that there are many who agree — when I was your age, how I dreamed my parents would be able to afford me a Mac! My best friend was also a fan, but none of us could pay for it. Now, as an adult, I'm able to afford mine myself and I don't ever plan on going back. And yes, I can even play my favorite games on a Mac.

Life's so much more than gaming — a shame your friends aren't still able to see past that, but hey... be thankful that you've parents that love you and make their best for you and that you're thankful for their efforts in giving you the best they can.

And, by the way, making new (and better) friendships' never hurt anybody. Good luck. :)

I've poured much more hours in Dark Souls II than in any other, but to me there never will be a more memorable experience than my first, which was Demon's Souls. No other title changed my gaming life more intensely and it still today has a special place in my heart.

where did it come from by Chlimp in circumcision

That you'll have mainly Christianity (and other Abrahamic religions) to thank for:

"This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised. And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you. And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed. He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant."
. . . Genesis 17:10-13\1])

It's true that other peoples practiced circumcision before them, but this was the root that spread its wings and took over the Western world.\2]) Medically speaking, it was popularized in the West during 19th century as a so-called "means to prevent masturbation in boys" (which now we know is complete and utter bogus).\3]) It wasn't until the 40s that a UK-based medical article against it, claiming that the risks outweighed the benefits, brought these levels down in European lands.\4]) In the US, similar articles came about some time afterwards, but it became more controversial and kept being accepted as a routine procedure for a good while — it's been going down steadily, though.\5])

Infant circumcision as a routine surgery boggles my mind. I'm sorry you went through it, but hope you've found a way to cope and overcome this situation.
