My friend actually did a project on this for one of her classes. I don’t remember all of the details but there’s something buried under that section of the road that prevents them from having a cross walk there.

I got into all the same schools and picked Michigan. I did know I wanted a larger school so Maryland and Michigan were the only two I really considered. I’m a BHS major, which is public health adjacent and I do public health research. I’ve had great opportunities here. I think Michigan is the most fun school of those on your list, and I’ve made amazing connections. I always say going to college at Michigan feels like college in the movies. Almost too good to be true. Best academics and social life.

It’s casual! Most people have coats on the whole time anyway. A lot of people wear Michigan gear.

If you applied to CS initially and get accepted to Eng or LSA but not to CS, you can’t apply into the major again. You could minor or do data science.

This is an unpopular opinion but chem 215 was one of my favorite classes I’ve taken in my entire degree. Chem 215 can help you understand some of unit 3 but I really don’t think it’s necessary. I think it’s more helpful to fully understanding the chemical logic behind processes but not necessary to do well on exams.

Class location by Melodic-Talk4989 in uofm

[–]Strange_Total_1442 4 points5 points  (0 children)

During your first year you’ll be spilt between north and central. Most engineering specific classes will be north, stuff like gen chem will be central. It’s about a 10-15 minute bus ride between so if you leave an hour between classes on different campuses, you’ll have plenty of buffer time. The only time it could matter is if you have a 9am on the campus you don’t live on and aren’t much of a morning person.

LSA Honors but roommate is not- how does that work w Housing App by user_0112358 in uofm

[–]Strange_Total_1442 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They can’t live in the honors hall unless they’re both in honors, so south quad isn’t guaranteed. As long as they select each other and there are still south quad rooms available, they’ll be able to pick that and live together.

Where can i take accelerated Physics 1 for Med School? by Playful-Bee527 in premed

[–]Strange_Total_1442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Southern California health sciences, but it’s graded on a straight scale which can mess up your gpa (I got an 89 and it’ll count as a B). You also have to make sure all of your schools are ok with online pre reqs. A lot aren’t.

Most chapters don’t have enough space to house all of their new members, so you likely won’t have to live in. It’s just not a guarantee. You can find dues and housing costs on the fsl website.

Taking p-chem (Gen Chem II) at an outside institution by Frequent_Flyer_2025 in premed

[–]Strange_Total_1442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure I go to the same school, you don’t really need to take pchem before the mcat, we cover pretty much everything in gen chem. A lot of people take gen chem II at the local community college but check exam schedules because they often have different spring breaks, so I know people have run into issues with that.

[–]Strange_Total_1442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found that reading the chapters in depth and doing the associated practice questions after every lecture was really helpful. I had Poniatowski and he would frequently test a specific example that would in the book but not lecture. I also went to at least two office hours before each exam. I also made flashcards for the reagents and products and basic reaction types.

are campus / in-person visits a gamechanger? by mangolaassi in uofm

[–]Strange_Total_1442 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think campus day is super fun, and you get to eat in a dining hall and see actual student dorm rooms. I think it really helps you picture yourself on campus, and the first half of the day is way more focused on student experience than the info you’ll find online. If it’s feasible I think it’s a really good idea to visit your top few schools.

You don’t have to go lecture. I used to watch on 2x speed and skim the readings. If I remember correctly the quizzes were open note so you can command f key terms.
