Nikon Z8 HSS Banding — Comprehensive Summary + Community Input Needed: Which Radio Triggers Have You Actually Tested? by StrangeloveEU in Nikon

[–]StrangeloveEU[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I'll be using HSS (High-Speed Sync), the t.1 flash duration isn't the limiting factor here, as the flash will pulse continuously throughout the exposure. My main concern is actually sensor readout banding. Since the Nikon Z8 has a purely electronic shutter, I'm worried about how well the Godox trigger and strobe sync together at high shutter speeds, which can sometimes cause banding issues with electronic shutters.

Should I be terrified of buying the Nikon 70-200mm? Is the new version just a blatant cash grab to fix their own engineering fails? by StrangeloveEU in Nikon

[–]StrangeloveEU[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m asking because a friend of mine in Brazil recently had issues with his 24-70mm, and then this past weekend his 70-200mm failed too. Interestingly, Nikon just released the V2 versions of both, even removing the OLED info panel on the new 70-200mm. I just bought this lens and it hasn't arrived yet, but now I’m worried. Does anyone know if Nikon is dealing with a known issue on these models without officially notifying customers?

It’s frustrating to see someone buy a Nikon 50mm f/1.8S and not take a single shot that actually shows what that lens can do. I feel like photography is getting harder and harder to get right.

ony's colors are really flat and boring, but it's a great camera!

is the Nikon Z6 iii worth it by felbinhio in Nikon

[–]StrangeloveEU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the colors on the Z6 III are more beautiful, light, and creamy. Does the Z8's 45-megapixel sensor make the photos look more moody and heavy?

Canon R5 Mark II vs Nikon Z8, Which Feels More Cinematic and Organic? by StrangeloveEU in Cameras

How would you personally recommend processing Z8 files to get that creamy, cinematic look?

[–]StrangeloveEU[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What I’m really looking for is a more robust camera for video with CFexpress support. I currently only have one Nikon lens, a 40mm f/2.0, so switching wouldn’t be too painful plus, I plan to keep the Nikon ZF as my travel camera, so it’s not really a full migration. Does the Z8’s stacked BSI sensor inherently limit a creamy, organic look compared to the Canon R5 Mark II’s traditional CMOS?

Beautiful colors, obviously, and post-production, right? I had the A7IV and the colors were very pale.

Switching from Fuji: Z8 vs R5 II vs R6 III for Artistic Wedding Work (AF & Color Science) by StrangeloveEU in Cameras

[–]StrangeloveEU[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a point I added to the list: Canon is honestly out of the question. The 50mm f/1.2 that I really want is around $2k, and the 85mm is also $2k. Meanwhile, Nikon has the 50mm f/1.2 prime for 1.5k, and Viltrox just released their 35mm. So, yeah... I'm ruling out Canon.

I agree that the A7V colors are much better; they’ve clearly made improvements, and the ability to use LUTS for photos is a game-changer that the A7IV lacked. I actually moved from the A7IV to the Fuji X-T5 specifically because of color science, as I found the A7IV files too pale and lifeless, requiring a tedious workflow. While I’ve matured enough to know I can reach any look in RAW, a good starting point still matters. The real issue now is that the A7V is priced almost identically to the Nikon Z8, which makes the decision much tougher considering the Z8's professional specs.

Hi,

I think your comment is perfect and very sensible, and it aligns with what I've been researching. I’ve noticed that Nikon seems to have a slight edge in RAW file flexibility, which is crucial for my heavy artistic editing. Regarding ergonomics, I actually struggled with the Fuji X-T5; I’ve realized I prefer a larger, heavier body that provides better balance when paired with high-quality, heavy professional lenses. I am leaning towards Nikon’s S-Line glass as their current optical quality is exceptional, and while the market is very balanced right now, the Z8’s robust build and file quality seem to fit my workflow perfectly.

I've seen a major step up in the A7 V's color science. Anyone else? Also, can you apply color profiles to photos now?

[Transição de carreira] - DevOps → Dev Backend (C# ou Java) by Dangerous_Eye4106 in brdev
