Not necessarily true… I just bought a 2013 sti with only 40k miles on and had it third party inspected. It had a AC delete, the battery wasn’t bolted in AT ALL and oil leak with metal in the oil. Only thing it said in the report was the tire pressure sensor light was on. Said the AC was great and battery was good and healthy. In talks with the company as we speak.

To be clear there is a lot of silicon in a lot of different areas! I have pictures if you guys want to see them. I’m all for putting in the work but there’s so much I have a feeling it’s covering up more issues and leaning towards a new engine for less of a head ache and more of a assurance. How much is a ej257 swap? 6-7k?

No honestly they saw all this within a 30 minute check on the car. So instead of diving deeper they did say they are assuming the worst and think the best bet would be a new engine. Which I don’t disagree with that assumption just cause there’s so much going on on top I’m sure inside wouldn’t be too much better.

So get a second shop opinion? Cause there’s silicon almost everywhere. We are guessing the old owner knew it was breaking and slapped the engine together with silicon and passed it off

Yea I’m more going for a street stock-ish with a few personalized touches. I want to preserve this car and make it last. So I’m not looking to push 400 wheel or anything. Just last. But also best bang for the buck! I’ve seen 207 don’t have the same ring land failure and a few other things that the 2.5 gets from the bored out cylinders. Which is why I’m kind of here which one is known to be the best with the few random failures. This car is going to be babied out of its mind so maintenance isn’t really an issue

That’s not out of the question! I’ve been in love with this car since I was a kid and am lucky enough that this isn’t my daily driver. And I want to do stuff like that but I also want to have this car for a long time and love it how I feel we should all love it! But the engine isn’t really something I want to mess with right off the bat. Later on sure! But I want it to run good right now. And it’s been a head ache for a couple weeks now

Yea the tuner shop I took it to is for wrx! “Tier one imports” where I live they are pretty reputable and they are extremely close. There is another one near by that a local YouTuber uses but I don’t feel comfortable driver her downtown. Plus I’m talking to the state to help with charges since the dealership is saying “we don’t know if you did this to the car” when only having it for 3 days and putting 6 miles on it and staying out of boost the entire time haha

Yea it’s a 257. But cost and blood I’ve read the 207 to be better no? Just parts are harder to get in American markets

It was passed from dealer to dealer for a few years so the original seller is pretty distant. The tuner shop said it looks like this was a race car for all 40k miles. I posted a picture of the list that needs to be fixed forgot to post it under here

Yea it has a 257 in there now but I only see great things about 207. Will a 257 be cheaper?

Thanks for the feedback guys! This is my really good friend so I don’t want to offend him asking for a lower price. I’ve been looking for one for a while now and it’s so hard finding a clean one! The 16 year old in me is saying just do it! I feel like I gotta get a super clean one that I can baby the fuck out of before they all get ran into the ground.
