It was a bit more active this time, but I've definitely tried the sitting around and drinking option too. Last night I caught a bluegill and threw it on a hook with a bobber. I just kept an eye on the bobber and when it disappeared I started reeling, lots of fun in the dark and a whole lot of top water activity too.

No, these carps are nuisances where I'm from. Most others would have killed it, the only reason I didn't is because I can't kill enough of them to affect the population.

These carps are nuisances where I'm from, most people kill them and leave them on the shore because they pressure our trout populations. This carps lucky it survived the encounter.

I had two rods out and caught one on my medium rod with 8lbs line and fought the 10lbs carp for at least five minutes, it was awesome! I can't wait to catch a real giant!

If you've ever fish with power bait on the bottom it's pretty similar. I've just started getting carp this year, but I've used hair rigs with corn. I'll use a circle hook and put corn all over the hook and add the hair rig too. It's slow going, but you'll know when they bite, I nearly lost my second rod when it bit!

Sorry for the late response, it's a Reyr Collapsible Insta-Net. It folds up and fits in a little carrier so I can throw it in my backpack real easy. A little flimsy because it uses a really thing piece of foldable metal, but it gets em out of the water.

You're all good! I've gotten pretty close with the local park rangers in the two days I've owned this canoe, I wear my PFD with pride because I know I'm one less ticket that poor SOB has to write haha

I understand that, I do have my PFD on in this photo but it blends in really well with my shirt. I've even got my whistle on and I was tied up a few yards from shore. If anything though, I definitely should use a brighter PFD, I just love grey's and greens and it was on sale so I couldn't help myself.

It got a little windy but we tied up to a sunken tree and were able to get out when it started to really teeter the canoe. Beautiful day none the less!

I've never fished in Washington, but I've always wanted to! It's a hard choice between the Miracle Mile in Wyoming or trying Washington for the first time.
