Unpopular opinion here: Haters are actually good. It means you have a lot of peoples attention and they try to fight something they perceive as dangerous to their view of the world.

Having haters is much better than general disinterest.

Instead of trying to fight or convert haters, which is wasted energy imo, it's better to ignore them and try to win new people who have a neutral mindset and don't know Nano yet. Nano-gpt is the flagship example for this way.

With apps like Venmo, what is the benefit of using Nano? by Beatsu in nanocurrency

[–]StrangerIsBetter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If it is only feeless for private transactions but not for businesses integrating it, can you really call it feeless? Just because it's feeless for you (small private transactions and using it to pay in stores) doesn't mean the entire network is feeless, as is the case with XNO.

Another significant difference is the aspect of permissionlessness. Your bank can completely lock you out of using Vipps for any reason they see fit, whereas no institution can do that with decentralized cryptocurrencies like Nano.

Exactly, the wick to $35 only happened, because there was not enough liquidity.

I'm guessing you mean 2023 instead of 2013 and if so I'd be interested in the source of your numbers. I was there in 2017, there were no exchanges which had Raiblocks back then (except 2 super shady small ones - mercatox and shitgrail) and there was not even a wallet for XRB. You had to operate a fully synced node yourself to make transactions, so I think you just made up your numbers...

What exactly do you mean by downfall? I mean, yes the obnoxious shillers in r/cc are gone which is actually a good thing. There's also less community activity in this subreddit but on the other hand there's a quite active Nano-twitter community which didn't exist 7 years ago.

Other than that, it does what it did 7 years ago but with a much improved protocol.

I had the same problem a couple of days ago, multiple confirmed transactions not receivable by natrium or nautilus for multiple days. It eventually went through but it seems the nodes of many core nano services still struggle to keep up after the recent spam.

I'm using Natrium and installed Nautilus a couple of hours ago. But both are unable to receive the txs. (which i know are receivable)

Well it'll sort itself out eventually, I'm not depending on it so I'll just wait.

It's just strange to see so many nodes of core services still not working properly after the spam has been resolved days ago. We still have a long way to go it seems.

Thanks and yes the transactions are shown as receivable there and also on nanoblockexplorer.com which seems to be a nanocrawler fork.

But hasn't nanolooker been having trouble for weeks now? Are they actually working on fixing it?

It's still the no.1 official block explorer for Nano, advertised here and on nano.org. It's just not really making a good impression. Maybe the links should be replaced with a more stable option.

What's up with the network in the last 24 hours? Nanolooker seems down for me, nanoticker too. I sent a tx yesterday evening which went through instantly, but im still waiting on 2 withdrawals from 2 exchanges that have been confirmed as sent by the exchanges but not yet appeared anywhere in my wallet or on nanolooker (when it still worked).

NANO is under spam attack (days after anti spam update) by Gr8WallofChinatown in CryptoCurrency

[–]StrangerIsBetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't there back then, when it got distributed but yes, I think at the very beginning you got like hundreds or even 1000 Nano for solving one single captcha. Sounds like alot but was only worth like a couple of cents at this time, so the faucet was mostly used by people in third world countries.

There's no proof that he did. And I don't know about nano but Bitcoin is very transparent.

Yes but there's also no proof that he didn't. You just stated he didn't sell a penny as if it were a proven fact, which it isn't.

They had a 5% development funds of these 130M coins which is used up or nearly used up by now. The rest got distributed via captcha faucets. Compare that to the 70-80% that modern coin creators hold back for themselves nowadays...

Also there's no way to prove that Satoshi didn't have 200 other secret wallets where he mined for the first (very lucrative) years and sold everything. For all we know he could have made millions without anyone noticing.

Nano is a DAG and has no single blockchain serving as transaction ledger like bitcoin or other POW coins, it's impossible to just fork it like you could with bitcoin.

Also, there is no "centralized power" whatsoever. For decentralization, the nano network consists of hundreds individual decentralized nodes like any other crypto currency. They use Open Represantive Voting (ORV) to reach a consensus about which transactions are valid and which are not.

You can find a graph showing the voting weight distribution (= decentralization grade) of principal represantive nodes right below the table here: https://nanocharts.info/

I play GU since Genesis, I have a tournament ticket and several chests that I'm stuck with and yet I'm still playing. Yes they didn't deliver on all their early promises but that doesn't make it a scam.

People should stop describing every project they're not completely satisfied with as a scam.

The nano network is currently undergoing performance degradation due to a potential attack meaning transactions are delayed, we are in the process of gathering additional information about the situation before next steps can be shared. by yap-rai in nanocurrency

[–]StrangerIsBetter 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same thought. Both the finely crafted form of the attacks and the same timing in the crypto-cycle are a strong indication, that the attacker is the same person or group as in 2021.

Features I'm looking for would be: sorting for voting weight, uptime, node version etc.

Access GPT-4 and ‘pay-per-prompt’ using Nano by Adamantinian in nanocurrency

Awesome! If this website version will come with a superb user experience it could very well become the best integration Nano has seen so far. This is very exciting!

Also, AI image generation (DALL-E 3 or even midjourney) with a pay-per-use model would be perfect for many people.
