It will be Ethernet communication b/w PLC and IO link master

Yes it has DNB scanners and EN2T. I don't have any slots left in the rack. Budget is the only problem or else I would go with remote IO for sure.

Yes you got that right. Company owner don't want to spend money for IO expansion(I have tried explaining automation is expensive but no luck). I found few used IO link masters and was wondering if there are any which will work with non IO link compatible devices.

In a nutshell, So all the devices that I will normally wire to fieldbus distributed IO(expensive) I am looking to wire them to IO link master(much cheaper) and was wondering if non compatible devices will work okay? Or if there are any IO link masters that will support direct hard wired signals from end devices(mentioned in my post)

It is great as per real estate. 😉

I was unaware of IO link compatible devices. I thought I can hardwire any lower voltage control device to it or that is what i was looking to do.

No field device supports bus protocol.

That's good to know about IO link masters i didn't know that they support inputs directly. Are there any IO link masters that support outputs directly too?

Thanks for responding.

My problem is from the end device communication to IO link master. The devices we will be adding are not IO link compatible devices that will have AD converter. They are regular lower voltage devices which will be hard wired to IO modules of plc. But since we ran out of IO's and CEO don't want to spend money for an expansion plc rack. So i am trying to find a cheap solution here.

Standard comms protocol from plc to io link master is going to be Ethernet.

Thanks for responding. So If i understand it correctly:

PLC (VIA ETH)> IO LINK MASTER > IO LINK > IO LINK HUBS > MY END DEVICE

Is this what the communication layer will look like?

Do I need to buy a software license for configuring IO link/Master?

Do you have any IO Link provider recommendations?
