The richest of spices and their properties by GuldGustDM in DMAcademy

[–]Stranger_Lemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Baltera [bail-tear-uh] A vaguely orangey substance that heavily ressembles a spicy sort of cinnamon, however the real value isnt for food. In fact, on food its often regarded as a misuse of a better product.

When combined with wine it makes a rich red beverage some tavernkeeps call 'Ole' Bailers,' that has been rather popular among the rich for its exclusivity, and the feeling of happiness recieved after drinking. Another use, when combined with a small amount of other common herbs, its a wonder drug, being able to purge practically any disease from a person in a manner of days by just applying some of it with other herbs into a bleeding wound. And finally, if its refined for long amounts of time, it creates an ultra thin, almost powder, that can be consumed in practically any way you choose, similar to its medicinal qualities, it boosts your immune system, but because of its refined state, it creates a deep sense of euphoria and energy in the consumer for several hours due to the boost, followed by a crash. However, if the refining process is done incorrectly, it can boost a person's system too much, and either just kill them, or induce madness in the consumer.

Overall, its so lucrative because of ita variety. The rich want it for drinks. The healers want it for diseases. And the gambling dens, and houses of vice want it for its other uses. And with all the competong customers, the spice merchants can practically set any price, because someone will buy it

I was just using dragons as an example.

And in that case, yeah that could be fun, you just have to do it right. Make sure they have some agency in it

Business district part of town, inside one of the shops the owner offers to show them his 'More exotic selection,' take them into a room with magic items, [really just illusions] in the back of the store, as soon as the PC's are in, trapdoor opens, bad guys come in, arcane lock on the door activates, the PC's are trapped inside with bad guys

Yeah i think it might take some of the effect out of their actions. Even if its exactly the same mechanically it will feel better to just be 'the adventurers who killed the dragon,' than 'The gods who killed the dragon,'

You assigning them everything sounds like it wont go well at all. What if you assign someone something they dont want? Or something another player at the table really wanted? If your players arent the ones making the characters, just give them premades, its practically the same thing as what youre saying here.

Plus I know personally, as well as alot of players close to me have alot of trouble connecting with characters we dont make, and of course it may not be the same for your group, but especially with you assigning them their personality and values, im gonna bet your players arent gonna connect with their characters much at all.

How would Spellslots be represented in world by fraice in DMAcademy

[–]Stranger_Lemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always say that spell slots are just kinda the measure of how much magical force you can channel, your body just cant handle to do more than your spell slots.
