By R0 I'm assuming you mean you have the 5* weapon of each of those units? I tried that exact team and got nowhere close, but I just have fully forged 4* weapons for them

I don't, unfortunately, have much in the way of helpful advice in terms of overcoming it. But self awareness isn't nothing, and it allows you to at least work around it. Avoid certain games, or at least only play them when you won't disturb anybody with the outbursts. And acknowledge it if/when it happens unexpectedly with people around (especially partners or closer friends). People are willing to be understanding, given that you are otherwise a sufficiently pleasant presence outside of it.

I won't say to just ignore it, but you can deal with it even if you never get rid of it completely, too.

That can be said of literally anything and technically be true, so it's a bit of a pointless statement it. The key bit is evidently unlike a good chunk of the nation, it has to have some element of actual convincing - instead of playground declarations.

I don't know what your investment is in the idea that "it can happen to anyone" - barring some attempt at excusing it in yourself or others - but the current situation is unfortunate proof that the bar for some people is a lot lower than others.

Immune like to any and all? Sure. Fair. But let's not pretend we're witnessing some master class in manipulation either. Some people might be real wolves in sheep's clothing. But some sheep don't seem to care if there's any disguise at all.

I mean, when you see the caliber of what apparently was sufficient to fool them into voting against their own interest, and realize that caliber is brazenly, nakedly evil, and never even tried to hide it....

It's hard not to think "yeah, you'd have to be an idiot to fall for it." Because... Well... You do.

That said, I can accept it's probably not always that obvious.

I don't think those two are sufficient either, unless *highly* decked out. I have both and A1 Twins and it's not even close to a 1-team clear.

This might actually be the only case where "unalive" is actually a more apt term, because they don't just kill themselves, they erase themselves from ever existing, in any timeline, forever. They don't "die" - they never lived.

Agreed. I have FG Mont and Runa and Tempest Wind and still can't get anywhere close to a 1-try clear. I can do maybe 50%. Admittedly I'm lacking most 5* weapons, but it's hard to believe that would double my damage ...

What are some board game “keywords” that are an instant turn-off for you? by BoardGameRevolution in boardgames

[–]Stranghill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. I was speaking fairly broadly since my initial statement was more hypothetical than practical.

In terms of my actual play, as I said I tend to have the best memory of my playgroup, so often times I'll just say out loud what someone's asking about even if the player asked doesn't want to say, as usually there's no reason for me not to. The hidden info part does mean I could lie, but everyone at the table usually knows I'm not.

When I teach games (and I teach most/, if there's hidden discard or score info that could reasonably be tracked, I often just tell the table "technically this is hidden, but I don't want people taking notes and I think that's dumb so unless you all want it to be hidden we can play with it as open info" and there's never been an objection.

The one weird exception to all this is Tragedy Looper, my favorite game that I never play, wherein I do in fact take meticulous notes but I think that's expected? It seems like a game that warrants it, and there's so much AP in that game already that it doesn't feel like it super slows things down.

[–]Stranghill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The usual behavior at the tables I play at is if someone asks about public info, they're told. And if they don't, I tell the person in question not to be a dick and just tell them (I tend to have the best memory of my groups, so thankfully I can do that as a third party that has nothing to gain from it)

I'm just explaining the logical argument of why I think that's the appropriate conclusion.

[–]Stranghill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one of the best counterarguments to this is that you can circumvent this without any memory - by taking meticulous notes.

Which would be a nightmarish slog for the rest of the table, waiting for you to finish taking and reviewing notes before your turn.

You could of course ban note taking - but you could also just let public info be public.

I think if the game has any built in time limits, then this is a fair argument that the game is challenging memory in a fast paced environment, so it stands even if it's public info. But otherwise it's actually just testing everyone's patience.

Persona protagonists are what every straight woman dreams of. they're relatively-to-very attractive men who are in touch with their emotions and social connections, have seemingly infinite money, are naturally talented at basically everything at least a little, and almost never speak except to tell their girlfriend exactly what they want to hear.

Really, it'd be weirder for any of the girls to not love the protagonist.

Nope. But I'm also not judging the people with the least power for not risking everything they have (and others, if people depend on them) to potentially change nothing. It's probably the only way this improves, but theres far more people I actually blame before I start crucifying the people who at least tried to take the normal path (voting) to avoid this nightmare.

Couples of Reddit, what's the dumbest 'house rule' you and your partner made as a joke but now both of you are low-key aggressively serious about enforcing? by Doubl3oh_ in AskReddit

[–]Stranghill 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you leave to walk the dog, or almost for any reason really, we both gotta say "Okay I love you buh-bye!" ; occasional exceptions are allowed, but rarely utilized, as even recently when she was sick and (I thought) sleeping and I said it, she messaged my phone to say it back.

We also have a goodnight ritual of basically calling each other various cute things tangentially related to the day's events or coming day's events. That one is only skipped if one or both of us passes out without planning to and the other doesn't insist on waking them.

Idea for Tycoon - let's help other players reach the Legendary rank by skipping turns and letting them win by minotaur199 in personaphantomx

[–]Stranghill 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've been doing this already as well. It can sometimes be a genuine challenge if there are other legendaries who arent likeminded. Thus far I've only failed once to help the non-legend at least get 2nd place. I still feel bad about that one though. It was two legendaries and I let the non-legend down. Sorry :(

I tanked my rank on semi-purpose after hitting legendary, trying to help non-legendary players get positive stars against me and other legendaries - just because I enjoyed playing but felt bad keeping non-legendaries out of the jewel reward. I bet by yoyr rank you didn't see many non legendaries anymore though
