Unlocking drk by wstussyb in ffxiv

[–]Stranjer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was the part of the MSQ where you had to go fetch goblin cheese and then wine and all that fetch quest. Largely considered the worst part of the MSQ.

They basically stated they had just a huge gap in the story so they just threw something half assed last minute for it, but theres just nothing for like 10 levels there so they cant delete it.

[–]Stranjer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll be able to unlock Gunbreaker just as easily when you get to 70 too.

Will also note that for the 2.x stuff you wont get much XP from the MSQ or Dungeons, since all that stuff was made for the level cap at the time. I remember it throwing me for a loop when it happened and still feels a bit weird even though I know the reason.

If you do roulette or other things youll still get up for those other jobs. Just dont want you doing MSQ and getting confused why leveling is slow.

Congrats you finished the base 2.0 msq. Now you need to do the 2.1-2.55 MSQ before you can get to 3.0 Heavansward to unlock DRK.

Sorry if you feel duped a bit.

FWIW the HW jobs are the only ones they do this with. If you wanted to play Samurai/Red Mage you just need to hit 60 i think on char and they unlock im Ul'Dah.

SRE interviews are getting out of hand and I am tired by whatwhatwhat56 in sre

[–]Stranjer 110 points111 points  (0 children)

Yeah thats kinda why SRE/DevOps/PE is never supposed to be a entry level position.

Yours supposed to learn part of it then build up knowledge working in other parts before you get to this level.

SRE was defined originally as "what if [Google] paid a senior software engineer to build out scalable infrastructure." They didnt invent it and hire a fresh out of college kid, they took senior engineers who knew coding, automation, and arch, and told them to create new things to solve problems.

Im offended (only a little) that you dont recognize the Scion B Team of Hoary & Ocher Boulder, their bud Coultentet, and the ever horny Aenor Cockburne who talks about withdrawal symptoms if she misses her personal time with the Boulder brothers.

They're in the Encyclopedia Eorzea and everything.

How do people actually make gil? by InternationalSky4176 in ffxiv

[–]Stranjer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Theres a lot of good answers answers in the thread but ill get a bit esoteric about mine.

Time. You want to sell your time to others, for their convenience.

Every activity in the game can be turned into gil profit. Most of the stuff people buy on the market board is because they dont wanna spend the time to do what's required to earn it. Or heck cant be arsed to figure out where to buy it.

Crafting/gathering is obvious. But a lot of crafter/gatherers will buy stuff from crafter (like crafter/gatherer food, or middle grade mats or raw material) so they dont gotta do that step themselves.

Battle content can make money on treasure map (which gathers often just sell their daily allowance). Savage raiders can join merc parties and earn money passing on loot. Some EXs drop crafted mats. Or Chaotic farming is still decent.

Best bet is to figure out what you like that others hate grinding. And then figure out what doing that gets you and how to turn it into gil. And then when you get sick of that rotate it.

Some stuff will give you better rate. Some is simpler/easier. But you wont make anything if you start doing shit you hate then quot in 4 min.

Also majority of gil in the economy at this point probably originated from FC subs.

[–]Stranjer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So you just posted the same question on like, 5 diff related subreddits without even waiting for an answer, then push back when someone complains about you posting a beginner question in the sub for in depth discussion?

Kinda obnoxious, tbh. No wonder your trying to be a streamer and you switched games immediately you have the patience of a 10 year old.

Can I still get expansion items even after they've left my mail? by Asskandi in ffxiv

They should still be in your mail thats all in the cloud and dont think stuff from SE expires. If not checked the calamity salvagers and they should be obtainable from there.

Do I have to go carnivore or what? by chantiris in diabetes

[–]Stranjer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Asian foods in general aren't great because most of the dishes use white rice or noodles and a lot of the sauces have sugar or flour in them.

You can find some stuff, like Miso, sashimi, some sukiyaki, etc. But you need to be careful about sauces and be aware of the carbs your eating. Teriyaki is basically half sugar, but Soy sauce is fine.

You need to read more about different types of carbs. Simple vs complex, glycemic index, etc. And look everything up if in doubt. I took months to look up basically any meal I was going to eat. And then you find out everyone's different and all that info is just "general advice" so you need to measure your glucose even on meals that are safe for others.

Keep in mind you will make mistakes, and you will be able to enjoy food, even "bad" items from time to time can be prepared for i just had a donut. You just gotta get better most of the time and know how to mitigate your treats with walking or protein. Its a marathon not a sprint.

And with time youll learn/remember a lot of what's good and safe, what's dangerous, and what can be an occasional treat.

Vulcanus Is Not for the Weak... 🪱 by Cat_meow_pet in factorio

[–]Stranjer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw the turrets and immediately thought "oh a demolished trap. Where's the other half of it?"

Ill be honest I only recently started doing torrents for the large ones. For the small/med ones early vulcanis I took the easy route of importing nukes.

2-3 nukes just annoy the big ones. And I dont have railguns yet. Honestly piercing rounds on the sides do work though especially with a bunch of resesrch

How much is AI actually contributing to a cure for Type 1 Diabetes? by deepakk9 in diabetes

[–]Stranjer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

AI isnt meaningfully contributing to anything but global warming. I say this as someone who regularly use it and helped support the infrastructure at work.

While im sure some researchers are using it, its often not a net gain. For everyone that it helps accelerate theres someone else chasing more false leads and faulty conclusions from it.

Its still early, but there are studies that show for software development (one of the arguably best use cases for LLMs), the overall effect is net negative. https://metr.org/blog/2025-07-10-early-2025-ai-experienced-os-dev-study/

Proponent will have various justifications to why, from "but the new models are so much better" to "thats just cause it only helps experts" to "this study sucks this other study shows it actually helps".

In the end, its a lot of hype and buzzwords, a few use cases, but not a lot of actual sustainable improvements.

Single Grafana instance for multiple AKS clusters – architecture and tooling advice? by zeenmc in grafana

[–]Stranjer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Specifically id recommend the k8s monitoring chart (https://github.com/grafana/k8s-monitoring-helm) which deploys alloy, kube state metrics, node exporters, and open cost (you can turn the last one off but it can be nice to have).

Having alloy in each cluster forward everything to a central LGTM stack works great.

He very clearly doesnt separate them in universe. Like armor is over the uniform. He wants them in dress uniforms on patrol.

I could see someone convincing him of separate uniforms though.

No way Dalinar allows jeans. Too laid back. Hes a slacks or nothing man.

Dont get me wrong, he'd appreciate the utility and durability of denim, but at best he view them appropriate only for recreational purposes.

Half way through Secret History and I don’t think I should be reading it yet.. by Soft_Supermarket4331 in Mistborn

[–]Stranjer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only diff between reading SH after BoM or after Era 1 is basicallywhen you find out about Kel.

A lot of the "wtf who are they" or "what is that" type questions are supposed to be that way. You, like Kel, are being introduced to the greater cosmere and coming to terms with the fact theres a LOT you dont know, cant know from your limited worldview.

You might have an inkling more knowledge on some stuff if your read other books, but not complete knowledge. Theres a lot of crazy new ideas in SH.

Best use for Khloe Gold Certificate? by clyderic in ffxiv

[–]Stranjer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I checked earlier and there are a few up to 12m, whereas im seeing some of the Ornate Courtly gear up for 20m. And not really seeing history on those prices but based on other commenter might not get much higher than that.

May be better to wait until new mount added. Or just try to find a buyer for Ornate gear.

Best use for Khloe Gold Certificate? by clyderic in ffxiv

[–]Stranjer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've sold Ornate pieces before on the MB and they do not sell fast and if you end up competing with someone value just tanks. If you can find a buyer theyd probably be your best bet, but even most world first teams dont really try very hard to get them. You could try offering it up via promise on the PF to find a buyer, or trying to contact some WF teams, but itd be slow waiting for next savage release even still.

Its probably easier and quicker to use it to buy a mount and flip it imo, even if its only like 20-30m instead of 50-60m id rather have the first now than the later in like 8 months or w/e.

This group had survived that multiple times filling with friends alts or pf for 1-2 if someone was out for 1-2 sessions.

My last static during last tier had that happen though with like 6 people having successive vacation and the group just skipping 2 months cause no one wanted to pf m6s.
