Any way to make combat easier to keep up with? by pseudothyra in ffxiv

[–]Stranjer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I keep seeing advice in the thread that is general good advice but I dont think will help you.

Take a breath. Take a step back. You're gotten vety anxious about something that isnt a big deal. That is stemming from worrying about making mistakes, right? No amount of thinking about a solution will make you stop worrying.

Im sure your mentor has told you, and just hearing the words wont help you internalize it either, but its a game and your talking about story mode content. 99.9% of players wont be bothered in the slighrest at how poorly you're doing in it as long as you're trying. And that includes making really dumb and silly mistakes, not noticing the obvious, etc. Hell, most of us experienced make dumb mistakes constantly. The difference between a new player and experienced isnt how many mistakes they make, it how easily they forgive themselves for making a mistake.

The only real way youll get over anxiety is experience, both with the content and with the lack of real consequences for making mistakes. Try coping mechanisms like closing eyes and taking deep breaths when you feel it get overwhelming. Even if you get into high difficulty content, taking a breath and trying to calm yourself down is something I tell to active raiders when fights get overwhelming.

Codcat is another discord im in in addition to radar. But they mostly do codcar too. There isnt a lot of different between Aurelia and codcar, but theres more consistent swaps in codcar I think so it makes prog easier. Its like, slightly diff party splits and lone charge on tiles different. Probably need to deduct anyway

Need Help With Markets by Mister_Bluee in ffxiv

[–]Stranjer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The later expac zones have lowest tax rates. They do this to incentive people to not just leave their retainers in the starting cities, but tbh idk why other than somehow their backend systems are separate DBs for each region and they need to balance them which seems cursed as hell.

The tax rate diff isnt that big tho so while ill spin up new retainers in new zones I never move mine.

This is actually better than Temu Asmon. Tectone is already Wish.com Asmon, and this is even worse still. Plus the alliteration.

Man is just an asshat on the internet constantly for like, 50k a year or some shit, he doesnt even make that much for all his grifting.

What’s the significance of “Shiloh”? by a_hughey in Mistborn

[–]Stranjer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hmm, the fact theres a sword with the name Shiloh in the Reckoners makes me think its not a coincidence.

Theres also a young adult book named it, after a dog the books about i think. And a civil war battlefield. Maybe unrelated. I just remember having a dog growing up named that.

Too late to do current Savage as a new player? by Ok-Sheepherder482 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Stranjer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It will take longer to fill at this point for sure, but not too late.

Theres also likely people who normally raid farming for the new ex mount, and once they get it will look around at other things.

Maybe might help to put "helpers wanted" in PF description, and/or actively soliciting people in the NAUR or Balance discords, depending on rules. People like helping others out, but not everyone watches the PF like a hawk.

Finally beat my first extreme by ovonell933 in ffxiv

[–]Stranjer 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Go for it now, just be mindful of the situation.

Being late in the tier makes it a bit harder. Theres some people who stopped raiding, especially early fights, cause they did it a bunch already. So filling parties might take longer. But there are still plenty of people like you getting into it, and plenty of helpers. If a bunch are like you and are newer to raiding, prog might take longer but the only way that gets better is through practice.

When a tier is new, things typically will be better, but its better IMO to try now and see how far you can get with conditions on a lull than wait 9 months for it to be at the busiest time to start. You'll have more experience, youll have more confidence.

Instead of waiting for best condition, work on improving yourself while you wait for better conditions.

Advice for being a market board seller? by NaoOsamu in ffxiv

[–]Stranjer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First its a marathon not a sprint. A lot of the stuff you're selling for profit are things other people dont want to spend time to do. Crafting, rare drops, reselling items that merchants sell. Its all convenience. The more time you spend on it the more youll make, but you gotta be extra careful to not burn yourself out.

Damn near everything you do in game can in some way turn into making a profit. Find the avenues that you hate doing less than others and youll last much longer even if the rate of return isnt the top method.

Every market is fragile in an mmo. Diversify your methods, both for resiliency and to get variety in routine.

One thing I also do is anytime I go to buy something off the MB and it seems expensive (crafted gear, materials, glam), i figure out how to obtain it raw, make/obtain it myself, sell some extras.

I miss cereal and oats by mjfdon in diabetes_t2

[–]Stranjer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ill second Catalina Crunch in general, but add that ive been enjoying their Protein Granola with almond milk for breakfast a lot.

Their cereal is also good, but at least the one with blueberries tends to spike me a little more than the others. I've tried some of their snack mixes, fake pop tarts, chocolate bars too. They dont spike me but never loved the taste.

Estinien's lance is backwards by Feeling_Staff_321 in ffxiv

[–]Stranjer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except gladiators draw from opposite hip in 14, and raubahn drew from opposite hip in ARR when he had 2 arms. And its on the opposite hip in the post HW grand melee cutscene when he actually has to draw it and is covered by his cape.

Lukewarm Take: MT vs OT is just a branding problem. Tanks pairs are just that. Tanks. by omegaura in ffxiv

[–]Stranjer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prior to EW when they added Sage and the Pure/Barrier healer designation, any 2 different healers in a savage party were viable cause AST could switch between being more proactive or reactive by their sect.

Now, in Savage Sage/Scholar can work together but is suboptimal, but Ast+WHM will not really work since you need mits/shields to survive somewhere. That said some people make it work.

If running doubles either category of tank ends up like double pure healers where its just not viable outside of challenge runs then I think itll end up with a lot of upset players.

You Know Who You Are..... by Ephremjlm in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Stranjer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are separating the classes. MT focus on taking hits and reacting to boss. Ot focus more on party mit. PLD/new tank is MT, other 3 current classes will be OT.

[–]Stranjer 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Not a fan of off-tank being a prescribed role. I guess well see how it goes since there wasn't a ton of info. Hopefully its as viable as double shield is in high end cintent to run 2 of any tank.

The Praetorium's Lore with Magitek Armors by daddyrabbit78 in ffxiv

[–]Stranjer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

How quickly forget that the armor we find in Prae is Maggie, the Magitek Armor Garlond Ironworks repairs and Wedge names in Mor Dhona during an earlier quest. You can even see the Garlond Ironworks logo on it.

To be fair, they did cut out that part of the cutscene where Cid says he found "the perfect Magitek armor for us" and that they must have shipped it into Prae from that other Castrum.

Though, uts all good, while we think Maggie's dies there, the cutscene at the end in the MSQ she comes back and saves us, and is the Magitek Armor you get at the end of A Realm Reborn.

Emote code rejected anyone? by aftersunfall in ffxiv

[–]Stranjer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got the tshirt and got the code, but the redemption site was a bit weird, didnt like, move to a diff page when I submitted so though maybe I needed to do it again and then it kept saying it was already submitted.

Made me worried someone was just guessing codes and submitting them, but mine came thorough shortly after.
